Thanks! Steering is a bit lighter now with the narrower tires, but grip is higher due to the improved compound.

Got the wheels balanced and reset the instrument cluster so the TPMS light is gone. This car uses wheel rotation to monitor tire pressures, so there isn't a need for sensors. It's a great system if you monitor pressure yourself because once you have the pressures set, you know two things if that light comes on:
1). The wheels are out of balance --or-- 2). A wheel is bent. It's simplistic and I like that. After balancing, I've put about 150 miles on the car in the past two days. The Michelin PSS tires are OEM sized at 225/255 and the difference in width vs. the old 245/275 tires is noticeable while driving. The steering wheel is lighter to turn the car with, while the suspension is more free to work than before. The shocks are definitely moving more now than they had in the past and the car is feeling a little softer than before. This could be due to the much higher levels of grip with the compound too. Overall, I'm getting a good sense of what the car felt like off the lot. The car is more nimble than before, but you can brake a lot better while holding the line in a turn with a predictable linear break-away in traction once throttle is applied. Honestly, the only thing that made me park the car and put it away these last two days was the need to work on some schoolwork. Otherwise, I'd still be out there making it dance in turns and listening to the S54.

Hey DaveSTi,
It looks like you haven't posted anything on TST in a while. Don't be shy! Join in on the action and create or update your Member Journal, add a question or answer to the Car Specific or Tech Sections, or wander over to the Regional Sections to get involved again in your area. Hope to talk to you on the boards soon! Um...ok. I've been travelling for work a lot this past month and haven't done much M3 related at all. It's been through two car washes but quickly collects dust in the parking garage here. I recently updated the itunes account on the ipod in the car and changed the music over to more of a modern mix rather than the mp3's from college with my old college email itunes account. I'll be driving it up to PA from June 21-24 and spending some time back home with it then. Otherwise, it pretty much just sits until I take it out to keep the fluids moving in it. I guess this is what happens after you finish the restoration work on a car? Haha. I say that but know that there's more to come as I nitpick things. The car is officially 10 years old now. Pretty crazy to think about. Oh, picked up this issue of European Car today while flying back to Charlotte from lovely Portland, OR. ![]() Solid issue with a bunch of E46 content and praise for anyone curious. Every now and then I think of only having the company car, but one look at the E46 and its obvious I won't sell it.

Over the July 4th holiday weekend, I went up to my buddy's place in DC and did a full exterior detail on the car. We cleaned the engine bay, treated all the exterior rubber (which was very thirsty), redyed the windshield wiper cowl with black treatment and polished the exhaust tips. After cleaning the wheels and tires off, we attacked the paint on the car starting with the clay bar and ending up with Pinnacle souverän wax at the very end.
I've never seen any of my cars look this good, so we grabbed the camera and turned off automatic mode to try to capture just how much the BMW paint shined. Keep in the mind this car is ten years old now and has never been repainted. Aside from the front bumper needing to be repainted someday, the rest of the paint has held up incredibly well. Onto the pics...he has the red e92 coupe M3. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I wish I had taken some before shots of everything, but the car looked better than new. The difference was incredible and I ended up putting on two coats of the wax just to add more depth. I've used Zaino on my cars for years now when possible, but as expected this Pinnacle wax went above and beyond. Too bad it doesn't last very long.

So...how often should a car be driven to keep the seals and everything in good shape?
I've put maybe 5k miles on the M3 this year, mainly on Saturday drives. Then it'll be parked the rest of the week.

Quote:
because I travel a ton for work and work for Daimler, which gets me a company car...driving a BMW to work is a no-no generally. I'll bring it in when it's nice out on a Friday, but 99% of the time I drive the company car to avoid any looks. I just don't want the M3 to blow a ring or develop a serious leak from sitting this much.
