i'm not sure why people seem to think that they aren't going to have any fun at an autox event if their suspension doesn't have all the parts on it that they want, you'll learn A LOT more by autoxing BEFORE you start to mod your suspension. if you already have some suspension mods autoxing prior to installing new mods will truly show you how much of a difference those new parts really make (when tested on a closed course)

just come out anyway, everybody sucks when they first start out, having more suspension mods will just amplify how badly the driver sucks (b/c the car becomes less forgiving)

I can supply you with a link www.phillyscca.com. Click on the word SOLO to get some info about Solo II. (Autocross) I am a newbie too so I am just going to be like Nike and "Just do it!" I know that I am going to suck really bad. Practice makes you better.

basically, you get there by 8am, come find me, and we can run through the morning routine so you know what's going on

here's the jist of it though

8am- arrive and empty the car of everything that's not bolted down (empty door pockets, take out floor mats, etc.) if you haven't done so before you get there
then you go get your car teched
then walk the course

9am- tech inspection closes
go through the novice walk through (even veterans go through the walk through at times)

9:30- driver's meeting

10am- first car rolls off the line

if you're not a member bring $35 for registration and if you can register online in advance, don't worry about class, they'll sort you out once you pay at the event

Late,
Daniel

and when you do get there w/o a doubt you'll be glad you dragged your ass outta bed early on a saturday

I agree with the worth getting my ass out early on a Saturday morning. If you are lost or confused with anything at all, almost anybody there would be more than happy to help you out and point you in the right direction. Also, you can look for anyone who is wearing a yellow philly scca jacket. Autocross guys are overall really nice and helpful people. They are all one big friendly group of car nuts.

i registered for both feb 18th and march 18th events, and requested off for both days, i hope to get off for the feb event, it may be too short notice, but i'll definitely be at the march event. what happens if there is snow on the ground? or if it rains?

The show still goes on. I remember last February when it snowed and they was still out there running heats. There was one guy that totaled his EVO because he had slid into a couple of porta potties.

The lot down in Ripken will not be plowed except if there is a foot or more of snow on the ground. Pictures of that evo spread like wildfires the next day. I wasn't there for this but ive heard that a Corvette ZR-1 went through the fence and into the reservoir at Englishtown.

I was there at that event, and he did not total his Evo. Looks like a cracked intercooler, and a cracked ssr wheel. Front facia was damaged too but definitely not wrecked. As for the person in the porta john, I believe they only came out with some scratches.

I'll also say the Evo should not have been aloud to run. Racing R-compound slicks on slush and snow = teh stupid.

hey just curious, does this cost anything? How much? And are there any age restrictions? I'd like to give auto-x a try. Even though I'll be in a darn near stock car, it would still be fun.

Yea that Evo guy was a toolbag too. He was like douche central. I've also seen a Corvette hit a trailer at South Jersey before, and a WRX hit the fence between the lot and resevoir at Englishtown, but never a car go into the water.

As long as you don't drive like an asshat, there's very little chance of anything happening to your car. You can take a look at the two "SnoCross" videos on my website (Media page). It's actually an amazing amount of fun.

EDIT to answer above question:
It costs $35, $25 if you're an SCCA member. You need to have a license to run. It's loads of fun. Com'on down.

I think you have to be 18 to partake. The cost is 25 for Scca members and 35 for non members.

well, the $35 I could do, however I'm only 17. Think anyone could check that for me? (the age requirement, that is)

you MUST be 18 or older to participate. they will not make any exceptions. you will only be permitted to run if you are under 18 if you have a permission slip signed by BOTH parents

as far as i know you also need to be 18 or older in order to be a passenger, again, unless you have a permission slip signed by both parents

if you have any questions email them to re@phillyscca.com

Late,
Daniel

If you are under 18, you need to have this Minor Waiver signed by both parents. It needs to either be notarized, or signed in the presence of an SCCA Member.
http://www.scca.org/_Filelibrary/Fil...leaseform2.pdf

And autocrossing in the snow is a blast.

Passengers are allowed, and instructors are available.
