I may come across as a "Grammar Nazi" (shut it Barry, I know what you're thinking), but I see a decline in American youth. I believe that our society is so concerned with having a high graduation rate that they eased the requirements to graduate. I know I had a hard time with 12th grade English. And I also have a hard time using a semicolon correctly. But...my sentences are correctly organized and my punctuation is fairly spot on so I can let it slide.

I just feel, sometimes, that no one takes pride in sounding intelligent anymore. I guess sounding "challenged" is cool. LOL

There are kids from other countries/backgrounds that can speak and write better English than some of us. They are also multilingual, yet it is too hard for some of us to get OUR OWN language correct.

So, in closing, yes I WOULD like fries with that.

I think you should make a book mike. The titles of this book should be "A mechanics take on internet grammar."

I hope it would be mechanic's instead of mechanics, otherwise it would just be "ironical".

It's MUCH worse when people actually say "double-u tee eff" instead of "what the f**k" Anyone notice the amount of syllibals(sp?) in comparison. Man, now THAT gets on my nerves! Wasting precious time by trying to talk like the internet.

No, but really. If I see someone's for sale add and they type like that usually I don't take them nearly as seriously, same goes for normal posts. I haaate when there's not one period in an entire post.

Gammers is good to lern.

In all seriousness, when making a rant about spelling and grammar, your post SHOULD be correct.

Pot kettle black. And heavy and iron.

and the differences of "your" and "you're", "there", "their", and "they're"...etc etc.

Is this thread for real? It's not gonna get any better......EVER. You're just gonna have to get used to the abundance of douche bags that say "yo, my boy, phat, dope, etc." on every opening statement. Also, when NORMAL humans use that same lingo, we are using it to mock the idiots that use such slang.

That is all.

Peace out yo!

Last fall I had a really eccentric English professor who used to throw a fit if we didn't use correct grammar. Honestly, I loved it when people screwed up because it provided about 15 minutes of entertainment. At least once a week he would bitch about "The American education system doesn't teach", "I don't understand how people can get through life without knowing good grammar". He actually was one of the better professors I've had. Your post reminded me of what he used to say.

I agree, the mike is good for entertainment. Have you seen pics of him, here.

Seriously, there are a whole bunch of people on here from all over the area. Some watch MTV and others watch BET. The minority listen to NPR. I know some forums actually crack down on bad grammar. Not here. We just complain about it every 6 months or so, lol.

Are things going to change.... I don't think so. Some will always talk a certain way.

Se la ve.
