whatever you do, read the manual... and read it again... and then again lol.

also pick up some sort of field guide for your specific camera. local bookstores will have em and it will help you look at different scenarios/subjects and break down what you need to do and what you need to change.

helped me out a lot. but the biggest thing is PRACTICE.

i never shoot in Auto or P mode. But for a beginner its good to play around in P mode because it gives you a bit more control over everything

yeah i stopped shooting in Auto, but i have been using the portrait, landscape, closeup,and im still reading the manual
