This reminds me of my mom telling me her computer is "running slow". So can you please explain what you mean exactly. Are web pages just slow to load when you click on them, or is the entire system slow making things like opening word documents difficult to do?

If its just web pages then you have an internet connection problem. If the whole system is slow to respond then you have a software problem.

Try Firefox. Even if you don't like it, it will help you pinpoint the source of the problem.

If firefox fixes your issues, then you will know there is something wrong with Safari and can try reinstalling that. If that doesn't help, then back up all of your personal data and use the system restore disk to reinstall the OS back to a brand new state. Or better yet do a clean install of snow leopard instead of an upgrade.

Its the system in total. She could be using any application and it slows up or locks.

My mac also bogged down a little last month, I ran "Macscan" which made it run just as it did when i bought it. Try that, see if that works for you also.

Run all that stuff. Especially on the verify tab where it checks the hard drive.

Does the computer act the same way if you log in as another user? Have you added any aftermarket memory? If so try removing it. If its really running that slow there may be a hardware problem.

well mac scan seemed to help, I have only been on my computer for about 10 minutes though so it is possible that i may have not done enough for it to slow down yet.

I will try those downloads next, thanks.

I only have one user on this computer, but i might create another to see if it is still slow or not.
and nah, no aftermarket memory, i really don't have that much on here, 79% of my memory is still open...

Thanks for the suggestions. hopefully this helps!

Fixed Dude, I don't know much/anything aobut Macs but why not just backup what you have, format, and reinstall the OS fresh? Its probally less work then what your gonna do to potentially fix the issues anyway.
