This isnt from road salt.. the motor is JDM and apparently it was close to the beach.. there are salt stains on the motor itself..

btw this is my beater.. I'm daily driving the vr4 now until its fixed.. I hate getting it dirty

however.. dremel tool and a wizzer/sanding disk would probably work

nope its not pittted... I was able to get it off with sand paper, but I dont want to scrach the metal... It came off really well in test areas with this chrome polish that I have, but its not safe for aluminum and I dont want to weaken the metal... The meguiars may be the way to go.

rubbing compound, alodine, paint. You really want to use a surface converter. It will convert the exposed aluminumsurface to a very, very thin layer of control oxidation to prevent outside sources from further oxidizing the metal.

simple green does not remove oxidation. its mildly acidic and might remove a good portion of the dirt and such but will definitely not do what youre implying.

buddy of mine just turned me onto fire glaze... like i polished my motor w/ mothers all the time and then we went thru w/ fire glaze and i was like damn.... plus side i use less... and its not a pita around the letters and all on my valve cover. rumor also has it that ferrari uses the it on their cars too.
