if your gonna get a short shifter i would go with a skunk2 dual bend with a skunk2 weighted knob. that short shifter in my experiences is far superior to b+m, blox, twm all of which i have had in my car in the past.

heres my rule of thumb. dont put money into a car pre '90's unless its a collectible. especially a N/A honda hatch.

use the money for bills or something responsible like mentioned before!

Finally, Someone else seen my post and agree's on the paying bills or helping out their parents (even if you do not live with them and they are the ones giving you the money, Look what they have done for you your entire life... It's nice to give back even a little bit...)

A VR4 isn't a Civic. Thats the point he is making. You don't see 50 of them daily like you do Civics. Not bashing your car, to each his own, but its truth.

I could be completely wrong but I don't see a VR4 or a Civic being worth anything ever.

I would however love to have a 500 hp civic hatch someday. Just for the hell of it. 20-30 grand for a toy is really not a big deal.

Telling someone they need to pay there parents bills is kinda silly. Granted pissing away $300 on a civic when from what I gather is all the money they got is even stupider. Take your parents out to dinner with the money instead.

Yes, I meant it would be smarter to spend the money back on his family, Rather then blow it on an old civic/car that is not going to make it ANY faster/nicer for that amount of money. His parents are giving him the money anyways... So why not give back, Instead of just recieve? better to give then recieve, Right? I would rather give the money back to my parents, Then take money off them. I believe once you are 16+, "christmas money" from your parents, Should be spent right back on them, In the correct way.."without blowing it"..

Age doesn't have anything to do with what you do with you gift. My parents are loaded, if they gave me money I would take it without question. I would say thanks! But its a gift, it isn't like they are loaning him money and he is taking them out to say thanks or something. I don't see him doing anything wrong.

I suppose you are right. Everyone thinks differently. It just seems ''crazy'' to get $300, And instantly waste it on ''mods'' for an old civic (not saying ANYTHING bad about the car).

You could easily:

-spend the 300$ on car insurance for awhile
-gas money/food money?
-rent/bills?
-presents for others?
-invest it.
-save it for one day when you might really need it
