Good stuff man, a great tight portrait lens on crop body.
I think you'll be happy with it for food, too. Post some stuff when you've shot with it more!

I did a photoshoot today before work. I'm editing the pictures now. I LOVE the lens. I'm so glad I bought it yesterday for this shoot. 221 pictures, and only 4 of them are with another lens. I had to move around a lot, but I didn't mind at all.

Also, 50mm for food photography is silly

Get this if you plan on shooting a lot of food:

Even this would be 100 times better than a 50mm for food:

I know I'm really late but why not a 50mm for food? I used my sigma 50 and I thought the shots turned out pretty good with natural lighting inside of the restaurant.. Now that I think about it, a lens with a longer focal length would be a hassle.. I had to take pictures while they were open and serving people so I don't think they would be happy with me taking up other seats or in the isle.. Here is a sample of what I took btw,

I tried going down below f/2.0 but found that the DOF was waaay to small to look good.. I think most of my pics were taken at f/2.8 or higher..

I think a 50 for food is a bit tight

I was gona say check out the Sigma 30mm f/1.4, I got rid of my Canon 50mm f/1.4 for it, but you already got a lens. The new 100mm L is kinda pricey, they didn't need to make that lens an L series, the old one is already sharp. I have a Tamron 90mm f/2.8 for macro, and haven't had a problem with it since I bought it. You'll get better autofocus from the Canon, but I rarely use autofocus when I'm shooting with that lens.

Canon 50mm

I use the word trouserable rather than pocketable. I also prefer the Canon to the Kodak. In every instance. Kodak make films, everyones going digital these days. Go figure.

I don't know if I'll be holding onto this lens. I plan on getting three lenses over the course of the next 6 months.

-Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L
-Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L
-Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L
