Ha. Yah, I have seen the pictures before with the transparent hoods, maybe i'll try one for Sh*ts and giggles. ha.

Thanks, I understand the "non-destructive editing" and 3 layers now. I'm still at work, so tonight when I get home. I'll make sure to try all this out. And post up some of the results. I'm pretty physced becuase the pictures looked really good, and I wanted to do the masks but I was just staring at buttons and clicking random **** making it worse and worse.

Totally understand theres more ways than one to achieve the same result's. Grimm is most definitely in the upper echelon of photographers around here and his editing looks perfect/professional to me even if its not "professional."

Here is the finished product of the two photos, layered together.

The new edit is better in some aspects but the car still doesn't stand out against the background, it's difficult since you have a white car and a black roof, against a black background. You could try either hitting the roof with some downlight or light the background. You could try backlighting the car/roof as well, but that might create more of a glow, which you might not be going for.

I did a quick rough edit of how lighting the background would help make your car stand out from the background more. This is where 2 flashes really helps.

I like how you brought the background out in the re-edit. Did you use the adjustment brush to brighten up the background?

I thought of that also, most cars are not two tone, so white and black might be a little harder. I think a better location with a little more light around would help also.

Here are the two pics I combined together for the A/C shot, the tripod was set up on the beach. I wish it was a little clearer too, it was windy out a storm just rolled through, so I think the camera was shaking very slightly. I'm pretty sure its the sky that makes it looked crooked

I made a selection around the background and used the Dodge tool to brighten the background.

with tha city skyline there is still too much dead space and the buildings are pretty soft. with something like that id use a telephoto and maybe stitch 2 or 3 of the photos together.

i agree with den, i would use a bit more zoom if you have it, but keep the sky in there. If there was a bit more movement in the water, it would serve a more "surreal" look like the clouds, but here, it doesnt do anything but create negative space.
