Say you put GT35 or larger turbo on 2 liter engine. You are likely to have the full boost around 4000+ rpm, and you gotta have 3" or larger exhaust pipings for the better exhaust for the turbocharged cars.
Larger exhaust piping=less response in lower RPM before the turbo actually starts to spool.
Yes you can go with straight piping but you at least give it a bend or angled out exhaust for some restrictions to the exhaust flow.
It's like you put a silencers on the exhaust and car all of sudden responses faster but of course it will loose power..
I have a toothacke for whole day and I am in pain so I can't really get it out but I hope someone picks up what I am trying to say.
what does that have to do with "needing back pressure"? why would a negative force traveling against your exhaust gasses ever be beneficial?

if you were exhaling through a straw with all of your might....how would a pressure/force fighting against your exhale make it easier for you to continue trying to exhale through the straw?.....it doesn't....scavenging efficiency has to do with piping diameter at certain air velocities/temps....your exhaust pulses spool the turbine to be honest. ever wonder how a 1.3 rotary can spool a monster turbo the way they do?

I know on a Z31 the stock exhaust runs that way, then the tips have bends to exit out straight.
Alright you got me on this, since all the cars you mention have straight pipes coming out the back, not crooked.

I think you mean aftermarket pipes come crooked

Because the stock exhausts have an extra bend in them after going under the axle, if you run it straight from the axle out instead of having that bend then they are crooked, which is what most aftermarket pipes do.

Maybe the owner is doin some mad tyte JDM drifting y0!

Honestly the car is ugly in it's very nature anyway, the exhaust ruins nothing at all. The Works were wasted, they don't work (no pun) on that BMW at all, plus the colors are off. Gay blue + gold wheels = puke.

About the only thing right on that car is the turbo and the Falken FK452s.

Big canister mufflers got played out 5 years ago. I do like angled tips but this dude went about it all wrong and The bend before the muffler is just poor design all together.

Nazi rice.

How can you own such a sick car and supposedly run a Korean sport shop think that additional bends in any piping will improve engine response? WTF?

I have always thought those cars looked like mini hearse's. The car was executed well, and I don't mind the muffler they used but the angle was a bit too intense.

I might be able to get pics of my DD Z's stock setup and how the muffler is actually mounted at a slight angle like many supras have their mufflers, but then the exit/tip has a bend to exit straight out the back...but it seems all my old pictures of the stock setup on my other car are long gone...

I agree! I nice small sports muffler or even a smaller can slightly less angled would even be better. But the hks carbon ti muffler has to be the biggest one ever, so thumbs down. The rest of the bimmer is sexy though

A turn down muffler would be sick.

The spoiler is weak though.

Call me crazy, but I have mixed feelings about the whole car.

I'm back and forth about the wheels themselves too.

Sounds like you need to stop talking to your friends in the shipping department.

Turbo's love sewer pipes for exhausts. The best exhaust is the biggest you can run for turbo cars.

Now in relation to spool up of large turbos, manifold design is the important thing...and there are many deciding factors involved with this. Heat retention, runner length, diameters...all play a big roll...

Free Flowing is only part of the equation. Velocity/scavenging are the most important.
