I've also added and subtracted various sections....sometimes to squeeze in some good roads, other times to try to avoid anything that makes it difficult for a large group to stay together, like traffic control signs and devices, left turns off of heavily-traveled roads, etc. It is of course impossible to completely avoid stop signs, traffic lights, etc. but I have definitely bypassed as many as possible. The stop under the Route 202 bridge also helps immensely...it's almost exactly smack dab in the middle of the run, and there is a very long and wide shoulder for the people in the front to pull over and wait for the rest of the group should we get separated....which unfortunately tends to happen anytime more than 7 or 8 cars attend.
We only rolled 4 deep that night, and some of the run was cut out. Especially the part where Marc ran over the stop sign.

OK, so I'm trying to secure 4 adjoining lanes at Ready Aim Fire for this. More than 2 or 3 people per lane would be difficult, so we're looking at a maximum of 12 people for the firing range. Add in myself and my girlfriend and we're looking at a maximum of approximately 10 people at the firing range.

This limitation is not for the run, we can handle as many people who want to go on the run, it's just for the firing range.

Here is the list of potential attendees:

aifan27
captainhook
FlashFive
deduce25
RBrum (+1) (18 years old, need to confirm with the range whether the minimum age is 18 or 21)
TurbosaurusRX
mikedefusco54
Protege v2.5
JasterM5
99SL2_Modder
NickDHdfc
PnS

As you can see, we have more than 10 potential attendees. So if each of you can confirm as soon as possible whether you are coming to the firing range after the run, that would be great. Also please confirm that you are 21 or older and that you are eligible to rent a firearm (no felony convictions, have never been treated for a psychiatric condition, etc.). If you are unsure of whether you are eligible to rent a firearm, PM me with your situation and I will have the range confirm for you. Everyone will have to sign a liability waiver stating that they are eligible to rent a firearm.

Also, please confirm whether you are familiar with firearms or if you've never shot before. Having no experience at all is fine, I just would like to know how many brand-new shooters are coming. I would also like to ask everyone (regardless of experience) to read and fully understand the rules of firearms safety at http://www.nrahq.org/education/guide.asp and also watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0v-mxvnFLfc.

The regular range fees per person is $20/hr. Rental handguns are $10 each. You can rent more than one gun for a single $10 fee, but one at a time. To see what is available to rent, take a look at http://www.rafire.com/rental/rental.htm. Any rental guns must use ammunition purchased from the range.

Approximate ammo costs (per 50 round box, this is going from memory and I will confirm as soon as possible):

.22 LR $5
9mm $25
.40 S&W $30
.45 ACP $30
.38 Special (for revolvers): $27

Expect to shoot about at least 50-100 rounds each.

The one lane and two rental handguns will be covered by my range membership. The rental guns for the other ranges would be extra.

So, depending on how much you want to shoot, expect to spend between $50 and $100. If you are only shooting 50 rounds of 9mm, it would be at or close to $50. If you want to shoot 150 rounds of mixed calibers (like 50 rounds out of .22 LR, 50 rounds of 9mm, and 50 rounds of .45 ACP) it would be closer to the $100 mark. I will try to get a group discount, but $50-$100 is what you should expect to pay.

I'm going to need a definite YES/NO answer as soon as possible so I can see about getting a discount for the group. It's going to be first come, first served. Like I said, the maximum amount of people is going to be around 10.

This is completely optional, but will help (especially if the range wants a deposit to reserve the lanes), and would guarantee your spot. If you are definitely coming to the firing range, you can secure your spot by sending me $25 via PayPal. I will collect all of the money and bring it to the range, and then you would just pay the balance there. PM me for my PayPal address if you would like to do this.

I'll keep this thread updated as much as possible so you all know how many spots are free. I would really hate to turn someone away, especially if there is someone else who said they were going and ended up not showing. But since there is limited capacity at the firing range, the only way to guarantee your spot would be to pay the $25 deposit. Even if it rains that day and the fun run is canceled, we'll still be going to the firing range as it is indoors, so the deposit would be non-refundable.

If you have any questions feel free to post a reply or to PM me.

The park and ride entrance GPS coordinates are 40.257380, -74.854855 or 40.257380W, 74.854855N depending on what format your GPS uses.

just quick note. i was talking to a buddy of mine and apparently the law states that you can only shoot at a PA range if you have a PA license or if you have a gun permit from new jersey or another state. w/o this you will not be able to shoot.

Incorrect.

You can rent a gun in Pennsylvania without a permit from either Pennsylvania or New Jersey. I do not yet have a NJ permit (is being processed, but it takes a couple of months).

Some ranges may have additional restrictions and require this, but Ready, Aim, Fire will rent to anyone who is not a convicted felon, does not have any psychiatric conditions, etc. Your friend is probably stating policy from a different range.

FlashFive & Protege v2.5, any particular reason why you don't plan on coming to the firing range? Because I don't know you, I don't know if you have had any experience with firearms, but even if you've never shot a gun before that is fine. It really can be a lot of fun, most people who try it end up liking it and having a great time even if they are very hesitant at first. Of course I would not want to put any pressure on anyone...it's just that a lot of people have many misconceptions about firearms. But if you do not want to go to the range because of any feelings like this, feel free to PM me with any questions you might have.

Either way, I look forward to meeting you for the fun run, since that is of course the main part of this meet. The shooting range is just something I'm adding on because I thought it would be an interesting twist on a car meet. I like to tack on extra, social gatherings to most meets that I plan, be it something simple and expected like going out for dinner with the group or heading to a place like Dave & Busters, or something completely different like the shooting range.

Cleanneon....got your PM, will reply to you soon.

lol no it has nothing to do with firing a gun, i just have something at night that i need to get to and want to give myself plenty of time to get home. i actually have gone to a skeet shooting range many times and love it, just dont want to rush things this day.

Bumping this one up as it's this Saturday (August 8th)!!!

For after the fun run, I'm going to the shooting range Tuesday to reserve 4 lanes for Saturday. We should be good for that portion of the meet, and hopefully have some extra capacity should anyone change their mind.
