I've been using demonoid for about a year now. That site effin rocks for finding just about anything. There's been maybe 2 albums i haven't been able to find and that's it so far.

Yes, you can trick your ratio, but whats the purpose of a private tracker then? The nice thing is fast speeds and good torrents, and if everyone fixes their ratio, you don't get that.

Some peoples ratios are nasty mine is just under 2.0.

Anything over 1.0. 1.0 means that for every byte you downloaded, you uploaded another. Having over 1.0 means that you have shared more than you have downloaded, this will get you special permissions within the site.

My last private tracker I had a ratio around 14.0, but that't because I won a contest and got 250gb upload credit.

So they actually give you a higher dl speed if you have a good ratio? Mines 1.14 currently.

Not really a higher speed, but some sites don't allow you to download a torrent until it is x days old depending on your ratio. Some don't let you comment. They usually do little things which do not affect you until you realize that you are missing them.

i'm at 18.01 and it says i've uploaded 6gb and downloaded 344mb

i know i've downloaded more than that.

what exactly does this ratio thing do for you anyway? i understand that if you contribute more than you take there are bonuses for that?

that's what i was wondering too. mine says Uploaded: 18.68 GB, Downloaded: 42.37 GB - Ratio: 0.44 . i take the DL'ed stuff out of BitTorrent because i want to be able to actually use it and reorganize instead of just look at it. evidently in the torrent world i'm an ass hole for wanting to use the files i just spent hours downloading. the only reason i seem to have uploaded a lot is because once in a while i leave things to seed overnight if they finish up. i still don't understand why there's a need for a ratio because i download just fine even with a 'low' ratio.

I just use mininova.org

been for 5 or 6 years now and haven't had a problem yet... But it's cool demonoid opens up every once in a while.

i will never use mininova again, demonoid is WAY better. so much better selection and i used to find virus' and **** on mini nova...that ended that
