My mechanic friend said I could get away with 8lbs of boost due to the compression ratio and not have problems. Anything more then that and I'd be pushing my luck. So I'm only going to run about 5-6lbs of boost. He said he looked up the specs already and determined i could get away with a low boost application without a problem. But I won't really know until I try, heh.

there is a big difference in the n/a 2.3 and turbocharged 2.3. you should not just put a turbo on it, motor internals are very different. better off finding a 2.3 turbo motor and swapping. the internals on the turbo 2.3 can handle 300hp stock, not bad for a lil 4-cylinder.

I have tried to find a turbocoupe motor, but they are few and far between to come by. And it's not like im using the motor for a big power application. I'm not using it to try to see how fast I can get. Hell, I'll run it with 4lbs of boost and not care about performance. I spent the last 6-8 months atleast, looking for a turbocoupe motor. The closest I came by, was missing everything from the pistons up. I've only found 2 actual turbocoupes in junkyards. 1 was missing the motor, the other was missing everything i needed. I'm only going to be doing a very low and minimal boost application. I don't want my car to handle 300 horsepower. I don't care if I only gain 10HP out of the whole turbo application, I just want something you don't see everyday. The smallest about of boost I can get away with, is all I care about.

For what your trying to do... it sounds like a good choice.

I completely understand your points of view. A lot of people don't realize that adding a turbo to any motor actually increases the efficiency of the motor... as long as your not WOT all the time. The reason why 18 wheelers use turbos.

Honestly, it sounds like you know what your doing and getting youself into. Good luck with it.

Thanks for your support. And with my car, I'll barely be WOT because I generally shift around 3,000-4,000 rpms regularly. And for my crusing speed, 65 - 70 is about 2500rpms. And turbos don't usually kick in until around 3,000rpms so I've heard, which is where you experience the "Turbo Kick". So even cruising I'll be fine, plus I plan on spending a little money and getting a turbo timer so I don't over heat the turbo.
