Ha, I know who that girl is.

I agree, the overly soft/airbrushed look is.. eh.

I see nothing fantastic.. I'm no pro but you don't need to be a pro to have an opinion. Here are mine..

#1 is awkward. Looks like she's sniffing her pits.
#2 is alright.
#3 looks like an outtake.
#4 is creepy.
#5 looks like a shot out of those 99 cent hair style mags
#6 is oriented weird. And there's some debris or something on the upper left hand side.
#7 looks MySpacey and the cover is stupid but I bet that's not your decision.
#8 nothing to say positive or negative about it.
#9 too soft
#10 Again, looks MySpacey
#11
#12 Too dark

But congrats on getting published, I guess.

Well, you guys sure now how to chase out the new people.

I will be out to the better events, and knowing how you feel about my shots, I will skip ya for the articles.

Nice place mods....

how old are these photos? i mean you have to admit they look nothing like the more modern modeling shots in maxim? just do an image search for maxim and look at the images and then look at yours? the ones hanging above the booths might be more the current/modern style, but it's really hard to tell from that photo.

I honestly only like the 9th photo, and i think it's mainly due to the post processing. the rest are very average portraits and some do seem OOF.
Were you using a wide angle lens for a portrait in #6? her face is really long and her arm seems very short due to the foreshortening from the angle the shot was taken. her body looks very distorted from a lens?
The "jazz cabaret" shots look like something from the 90's. again it doesn't seem to have a modern composition or feel to them. and it's not really a flattering photo.

All in all i haven't been that impressed by the majority of your photos. being that you boast how you are a "published" professional photographer i think we expect more.

In addition after reading your "tip" on how to create a tilt and shift effect, I realized that you don't seem to have a full understanding of photography. That tip was not accurate in the slightest way, that sort of miss-leading info, coming from a "published" pro??? kinda takes some credibility away.

I am a published photographer as well. And there are quite a few other members that if they aren't published they should be because i feel their work is better than mine. Maybe you lucked out and found an "in". But these photos don't even whisper they are from a "pro".

Prove us wrong, show some of the WOW photos you have.

if you are ever going to survive in the art world you gotta be able to take criticism and defend your work

A real car? Much like your Grand Am? How old are you? 13? I'm sure you are older than me but based on your reactions... can't be too sure.

You're in the business of photography, no? Pretty sure opinions are the very root of your career's existence. Not all feedback you get is going to be what you want to hear. Photography is just a hobby for me and I get plenty of 'pointers' or 'critique' and I take it, then try to improve. I'm sure you haven't liked every photo you've ever seen, correct? You're not exempt from critique just because you've been published.. In fact, if anything, that opens you up to critique from more than just this forum.

I'm not trying to 'flame' you, or whatever - but being a professional, I'd hope you are able to take criticism a little better than this. *Shrug*

your web site is just as "professional looking" as these photos.

i don't know what a "real" car has to do with your work but it just seems you are offended and can't take the criticism. if you would maybe respond to some of the critique with reasoning or intention people might get a better understand of your work instead of just getting mad about it.

Constructive criticism is always welcome, but let's try to leave it at that.
