I dunno know about these hi-tech radar systems, I mean I use my cobra and it works fine, never let me down and always picks up cop signals in advance to me seeing them.

barry u mean your tint has lessened the signal sensativity from the rear of the car because the window are tinted? why is tint a factor?

I don't know the sicence behind it but yes it has lessened it in the rear. I think it has something to do with the metal in the tint.

Yeah... but to be honest if they are behind you it is probably too late... in the long run i will probably lose the tint.

Sure... a jammer is something that basically sees the laser signal coming towards it and sends out a signal to basically render the laser unit useless. THEY ARE ILLEGAL.

Basically a device that shoots the same type of signal radar guns put out so that it basically fools the gun into not being able to calculate speed. Only major problem with them is that they are illegal. And thus any gun you buy can be and most likely be fake cause it's not like you have any real rights once you buy something that is illegal, lol.

There was an episode of this on 5th gear where they talk about a legit company that made and sold these. Pretty cool.

I have a cheap cobra detector. Works for me but I don't drive around speeding all the time. so it's more of a oh cool you have a radar detector thing.

There are models that work with k, ka, x, etc. And yes they are all illegal, in all 50 states. In fact, it is a federal offense, lol.

I don't think cops necessarily look for jammers but when a car blows past them at 100mph and nothing comes up on the radar guns I'm sure that will piss them off enough to warrant a search in your car if you aren't fast enough to find a lawyer on the spot, lol.

I remember a buddy of mine bought one and it turned out that the thing was too weak to do any good. But he swore up and down that it was well worth the $400 he spent on it, lol. The problem is that the unit has to be able to emit a signal strong enough to hit the cop's radar gun. Good units actually look for a signal and then bump up their output when it detects them so it isn't working at full strength the whole time which is more than likely going to burn it up quick.
