theres tons of phish fans because their style appeals to a broad base; rock, blues, bluegrass, folk, jamband, funk, etc...

I always considered myself a hippie at heart, ie. I would love to just sit around all day and blaze and peace and love... but thats just not realistic. Still, yeah the hippie stuff can be a bit much, but in general they're good people who wouldn't hurt a fly. A lot better than the Gangsta Bs.

First Tube isn't one of my personal favs though. I'd never even heard of it until a couple years ago. must be a newer one?

personally I like phish becuase they are super creative. I couldn't give two ****s about their fanbase or any of the "hippie" following they have. I enjoy their music and I think that they are one of the more musically talented/creative bands still playing.

and first tube is off of farmhouse...so yea, relatively new.

Completely agree. From day 1, they were about their music. Thats why I fell in love with them. In the late 90s-2000s it started to be all about the commercials success, and their following started to become young kids just looking for an excuse to do drugs and be "hippies", aka. have no direction in life besides your goal of getting f'd up every nite.

Yeah, I haven't really gotten too into any of their "new" albums, ie. from Farmhouse on.... I only like a few of their newer songs. A lot of them are too soft or "out there"...

I highly recommend u check out a relatively unknown album of theirs "The Dude of Life and Phish". You won't find it at Best Buy most likely, but a more obscure music place like Sam Goody or something. Its an awesome album, with a really good mix of songs, somewhat eclectic. Every song is really really cool though. Very hippy-rock-ish.

Musically, they are one of the best bands around, if not the best.

The ironic thing about what you just said is that I actually am a "young" kid....but I guess I am different from most

do you have the tracklist?

edit: found it...looks like it was actually a side project

the dude of life is one of Treys buddies from way back.. his name is steve pollak he co-wrote tons of older phish songs (early 90s.. i want to say Junta iirc).

you gotta give the newer stuff a try. farmhouse was a very tidy album as in there was none of the traditional phish jam sound to it, but its just an album. think of any of their songs as a basis from which they can create.
the fenway show was full of stuff of the still unnamed album, and tracks ive heard are just like farmhouse... a basis to jam. i liked what they did with Time turns elastic. by the way fenway was amazing from the star spangled banner on the pitchers mound, destiny unbound, 20+ minute long YEM and a really sweet encore good times bad times (zeplin cover) and a tweezer reprise.

im gonan go to mansfield and see if im up to getting down to camden the next night, i have a ticket already.. 6th row

DJb- yeah, it wasn't an official Phish album, but its Phish on the instrumentals and The Dude of Life on lead vocals. Really cool stuff. And obviously I didn't mean ALL younger guys, just in general.

JJmlife- Junta was one of those mind-blowing albums for me. Thats probably what turned me on hardcore. I've heard farmhouse, think it came out my freshman year of college. Like I said, I like some tunes on there, just not all, and I def prefer Billy Breathes, Lawnboy, Hoist, Junta, A live one better... Rift and Picture of NEctar I like a few songs off of. I like more of their rock-type stuff.

A bunch of my buddies from down here are also heading to Mansfield, turning around next day and going to Camden... I'm like "why?" SHoulda planned that one out better. lol.

the tour doesnt make much sense.. boston to ny to boston to nj. not sure why they did that but its pretty typical for them to jump all over the place. i remember the final tour was mansfield to camden, ny then VT.

as for the albums i was never into the studio stuff. like i said its just a basis for the shows. i used to trade tapes(yes tapes) and then CDRs by mail. i had tons and tons of bubble envelopes and blanks tapes and cds.. but i fell out of that scene. probobly still have 50+shows on different formats somewhere.

my only guess is that they arranged the tour like that to try to prevent roadies from snatching up all the tickets and just going from show-to-show. Kindof makes sense, gives each venue a chance to have locals there.

Hell yeah I remember tapes, some guy I went to high school with used to be a tape-trader... He gave me my first "Live" Phish tape. It had Wilson, and it had a track where Trey was explaining the "secret language", aka. playing the Simpson's tune = "Doh" ,etc... Man I loved that tape!

oh i know what u mean.. i don't mind the taste too much tho, guess i've gotten used to it after about 30 times... btw, if I find some there, i'm def gobbling them down. heh heh...

I prefer a bit of worcester sauce lightly sprinkled over teh top of my grilled chee.

my bud might take a train from NYC-Philly too if he can't find a ride.

Epic show for sure. The actually playlist I would give a 7-8 out of 10. They played a LOT of newer stuff that I'm mildly into. Like from Guyote on thru the 1st set, I kinda lost interest a bit. Not that the new songs suck, just not as good as Chalkdust, Fee, Wolfman, My Sweet One (which were awesome).... Character Zero, Silent in the Morning, and Antelope were good. Tweezer and the Reprise were good. 2nd set had a couple sick sick Jams -- don't know what songs they were. That new song "Joy__" was pretty good actually.

I had high hopes of hearing Free, Sample in a Jar, Wilson, YEM, DWD, and all my favs.... but all in all, the show was a buttload of fun. I made almost $100 selling grilled cheeses in the parking lot before the show. Good times definitely. Frigging hot as balls out though, If i didn't have my tent, pretty sure i would have Split Open and Melted.

I could have done without some of the first set stuff - the wedge, etc. Joy was sweet. I would have liked a YEM and Moma Dance for sure, but Character Zero made it worthwhile. I am actually listening to the livephish now already haha

man, i am still recovering. Left the lot kindof earlier-ish after grilling up some hotdogs post-show. Got out of lot around 1:20, home by 2. I'm freaking exhausted though. so glad I took off today.

Got a link to the Live Phish thing, I've just been finding a few songs on youtube. not great quality though.

I wish the show was again tonite! such an awesome time.

still recovering here too. just got back to boston. epic show, you guys are nuts to find fault in it (besides for trey forgetting some lyrics early on). guyute rocked. loved how set two picked up right where set on e left off (tube, then first tube) antelope into tweezer reprise was an insane encore to easily a top 5 show in my book. sitting 6th row center didnt hurt either.

nice work on the grilled cheese. i must not have seen you, but i did have me a french bread pizza.

lol, yeah Trey forgot his place in Chalkdust Torture... the 1st song! lol. Even I know all those words. haha. didn't care tho, it was funny.

Guyute was good, the song is just okay imho. Kindof flaky for me. Do do doo do do doo do doo doo, with the whistling.. kinda lame. Jam to start 2nd set was long and crazy, idk what it was. Tube/first Tube (not huge fans of those either) closed set 1 though, right?

I completely tripped out during Fee. Think the shrooms had a lot to do w/ that... haha.

Next time I'm bringing some kind of toaster oven as well, so I can do Elio's and Stouffer's French Bread Pizza. You can seriously make a buttload of $$$ down there.
