BMW has V8's in their 5-series and 3-series(M3). They now will have a twin turbo V8 in the new 7-series.

just an FYI, not sure if its mentioned in this thread either, but ford will be offering both a TTV6 and a V8 for the GT 2011 model. I believe they'll be priced about the same as well

with sites that are all about putting v8's into other cars they will never die! might go up in price but the will never die, in less cars sure but never go away! like now i am planning on getting an ls1 for my rx7 might even sell my fc to get an fd to many people have toys and always need v8's for them :D

Seems like the author didn't get it right starting off, in the first paragraph!

Quote:
The V8 engine, a symbol of power and prestige for more than a century, is looking more and more like an endangered species.
He must've been asleep in the 90's, that's when V8's plunged. Fast forward to 2000 and up, Nissan and Toyota have full size V8 pickups, like someone mentioned, dodge put a their new V8 in almost everything they could. Mercedes loves their 5.4L sohc and put that in almost everything. A slew of exotics use V8's now.

The only real change now is that there are more V8's getting turbos and s/c put on by the factory.

V8's and other large displacement/cylinder blocks are bound to stay around in the American/European markets. After all...the image of the old Muscle Car isn't going to fade any time soon, and the apex of the current Muscle Car image is to get something with a big ol' V8 under the hood. Companies like Mercedes aren't exactly known for being the most "efficient" types, they'll keep making guzzlers for a while. The thing about the new M3 having a V8 is that the M Division has (until the new M X5 and M X6) never had anything besides a naturally-aspirated motor...sort of their idea of a tradition.

It's a shame - I've always wanted to get some sort of a project car with a big motor and dirt-simple engineering under the hood. But any sort of practicality is going out the door very quickly.
