Nick(angel) is a legit guy. Alot of the local people know him, and this is a typical him thing to do. He could just give his phone to his friends to have them text/clear while he slept, and then trade off, its damn impressive.

Hey guys, I will copy/paste something that I just typed on another forum that may clear up a couple questions you may have. I can assure you this is real, I will take pictures of the bill-in-a-box if you like.

There was no automated system involved, believe it or not. I was (and still am) using a Motorola RAZR V3T and a nice thing that you can do is send out to 10 or so recipients at one time for each message. The phone cannot send 10 INSTANTLY, so it basically queues them like a printer. So that buys some time to get another 10 queued up and so on and so on.

I could usually get 100+ in queue to send out and then I wouldn't need to look at my phone for about 5 or so minutes and then I would do it all over again. You can see on my bill that I sent out quite a bit more than I received.

Since I get up to go to work at 2:45am and I only get home at 5:00pm or so, I am sure you can see how I found the time. Normally, by the time I get home, get things done, eat dinner, etc etc, it is 9pm or later.

One bad thing is this... initially I was receiving as many as I was sending, but after the first couple of weeks, I learned that over night when I had people texting me, it didn't really help much because when the RAZR's inbox got full (about 100-120 messages), it didn't keep counting up. So my phone would be "receiving" messages at night while I was sleeping, but unless I was clearing my inbox, my total was not increasing.

And yes, it was quite a hassle. My wife made me promise that I wouldn't ever do it again. Somewhere around the 2 week mark, I actually quit for a few days and then I quit again near the end of the billing cycle with about 4-5 days left to go. Not only is it extremely time consuming, but because the RAZR is a bit outdated now, it also basically eliminates the phone from being usable. When I have 20+ messages queued to send, I am unable to make phone calls or receive them (it just would say "call failed") so that was quite a challenge as well.

Luckily I have a work cell phone as well.

damn and i thought it was rediculous when my girlfriends little sister sent 33,000 in a month (which was a month she was in school and was not allowed to take her phone to school) so she was sending them at pretty much the same rate that troll broke down for this guy if you count her as 7 hours of sleep and 8 hours of school each day..but anyway..holy hell it is amazing to text that much even using the method above^

BTW, I also hate text messaging. Once this is all cleared up, I will probably get rid of our unlimited plan.

We actually counted on averaging 10 text per minute most of the time. Sometimes the phone would lock up and I would have a "reboot" time and that would slow down the process. I always shot for 8,000+ per day before I would go to bed. That, in combination with a bunch of days of not doing it, should hopefully help you math people figure out where the total came from.

The most I had in one day was near the beginning when I was averaging about 12,000 per day. I believe one day the total was near 15,000.

90% or better were BS texts. Believe it or not, the world record for sending out unique and actual text messages, is only like 24,000 in a month. But to take that record, stuff like "lol" doesn't even count. There are a lot of stipulations which is why we didn't even bother messing with that record. It was easier just to try to accumulate as many as possible, not worrying about making up real conversation.

*edit* just noticed that it was stated earlier that they were legitimate texts. That is partially false. This was not typed out sentences all the time. Some were, some were not. No mass spam program was used or anything like that, however.

Just for a quick fun note, I will mention that on March 15, we did a test to see how many texts were being be done in a hour and I was able to pull off 897. That is the only time I tried to log an actual time frame (other than the whole month). I think I could also beat that figure as well, but it gives you an idea of how hectic it was.

*edit* After talking with my wife, I decided to delete part of this response. Yes, we had and still have a healthy sex life.

Keep in mind that when I went to bed, the texting stopped and my phone was on silent just in case anyone bothered trying to send any.

My god, I have pretty much the exact same phone, and after about 10 texts or so back and forth I get annoyed and either take it elsewhere or stop entirely. How you managed in excess of 200,000 texts on that phone, I have no idea. I feel for your thumbs.
