Most still have them, but remember that most people in the US opt for the easy drive with an Auto. I do agree, lots of cars would be that much more fun with a standard trans.

I miss the Identity cars had. Now days all regular cars look pretty much the same. Its dull and boring. I like the diversity of designs they had in the 1920s- 1960s. Cars had real Identities and class back then. There were crazy shapes like fins on cars, and many cars came two toned (always something I've loved, idk why most companies dont do it anymore). Most cars now are boring. They all share the same basic shape, and the color choices are getting more and more boring. The last few years I have gone to the Concours D' Elegance at Pebble Beach. Ive seen so many old cars that are so amazing to look at and every time I find myself wondering where did it all go. What on earth happened to the diversity of designs. My taste in cars has always been toward anything that is "special" in some way. Weather that be through speed, design, rarity, price, etc. There must be something outstanding about a car for me to even give it a second look. In the mainstream market, there is a major lack of special cars, most dont have anything remarkable about them at all. The ideals of earlier times need to return. And compaies can start with colors. Lets get some cool blues and tangerines, enough with having 5 shades of a "sand" color, THAT **** IS ****ING UGLY AND BORING

Dude...you want to know about colors? We bought a "lot" of Saab 9-3 convertibles about 8 months ago. 2 red, a black, 3 silver, 1 gray, and 2 limon. Guess which have sold already..red, black, silver, gray, limons are still standing (though they have lower miles, better equiptment, and are in better condition than the others). For reference, here is one of our Limon Saabs.

You have no idea how many people I've tried to sell those 2 cars vs. the others. The problem is, those are cars that tend to be daily driven, and not many want that flashy of a color for daily use. Those who buy them for weekend and seasonal use are also hesitant because of the attention those colors will attract (in most cases it's negative).

I'll stick with my solid colors thank you. Also remember that not all cars look good in bright colors. Here are a few of our stock to compare.

Fail:

Win:

Or take for example the red GTO we've had standing for a while. We had a black and a silver one prior, they sold before I had a chance to even list them online.

The new Genesis comes in bright colors too but I have a feeling the drivers of the bright ones will be those with the mentality of "HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT ME, I DRIVE THE LATEST SPORTS CAR!!!"

While u are right alex. It is all relative. Not all outstanding ideas are good ideas. Companies need to know their markets obviously, but there seems to be no innovation within that realm at all. Im not saying Cadillac should make the CTS in bright yellow. But a classy 2 tone option would sell well. Like Black/silver, Black/ burgundy, etc. This innovation needs to be targeted to their market, but as of now it doesnt exist. And the car market is pretty dull right now.

And yes this is coming from a guy who would buy a yellow Genesis

Look at the target audience for the new CTS, and the age of the actual drivers, you'll see 2-tone is not a good idea for that car. Cadillac is trying to make their image younger and more appealing to those without an active AARP membership, and 2-tone isn't generally appealing to that demographic. You can still get all of the hot cars in hot colors; look at the colors for the new Corvette, or how you could get first gen Viper. Put those same yellows on other cars and you have a few thousand lbs worth of fail. I'm sorry but I don't find anything appealing about a brightly colored Cobalt SS or Civic Si.

Take on the other hand a Canary (i think) Yellow S2000, or a Sunburst Yellow NA Miata, which are more "out, and in your face" cars that can pull the color off better, they sell (though I still think they are ugly). Certain colors just don't belong on certain cars, it has to do with the lines of the car; the new ZR1 looks awesome in baby blue because it's a cool calm color that brings out the lines in the car...lime green or limon or yellow would burn your eyes and not show the car, black is dark and doesn't show the car well.

Trust me, manufacturers have at least a little idea about what colors to offer on their cars, and GM hasn't been failing because their cars aren't bright enough, but because they aren't good enough.

Ya, I see what u mean there dude. Im no fan of bright colored cobalts either. lol. Ur right about the demographics thing. But there are some cars that just dont relly come in any real colors at all. Theyre all shades of grey, browns, black, and white. They leave out colors that would look good, like dark shades of actual colors. I just hate it because it makes things boring as ****. Most people honestly dont have an opinion, they just take what theyre given, so to some effect, the companies do control this stuff. And theyre being pretty dull right now. I understand that 99% of the market is not like us here on TST. That segment is not the reason I like cars. So I plan to let dull people deal with dull people. Hence, Toyota, I dislike them b/c their cars are boring, but most of the market is boring so they do well. Im just saying that if manufacturers wanted to make things more interesting (within reason), they could, and with great success.

i miss cars that are solid, like 500 pound doors that feel like they came off a bank vault. big ass seats and crazy steering wheels are cool too.

but i cant complain about new cars, they handle better and they are more efficient.

you cant tell me this would be fun just cruising around in, or going on a road trip across the country

but then again this would be just as fun

i miss cars, like my dads 73 gto engine bay that i can practically stand in, that you don't need a midgets hand to work on. reaching bolts and stuff can be a pain in the ass sometimes.
