I lie occasionally, and when I do they're little white lies. My thing is that I feel awful when I do lie. Like really, really bad. I can't stop thinking about the lie I told. It eats me up. The instant I lie, I feel guilty. So, with that said, I don't like lying and I don't like liars.

I really can't vote on this, since part of my job is protecting internal knowledge from our customers. Certain issues that we know of, and are common place, I cannot disclose to a customer.

To my friends and family though, I try at all human costs NOT to lie. No reason to. They can all read my like a book anyway.

I lie so much i can't even be honest with myself...

but seriously... where i work it's necessary to half bear the place to lie to Production people to lie to Management etc.

I used to lie nonstop, and i've curbed that habit. and of course i've been lied to now so i know what it feels like.

NO.

there is never a good reason to lie.

if you can't be honest then whats the point of even conversing with someone.

that doesn't mean you need to tell someone everything, leaving out info is ok, just don't lie.

for example, I've never killed a hooker, and she's not buried in my back yard, not at all.

I've done it under extreme circumstances. Mainly like was said earlier.. when the benefits of telling the truth far far FAR exceed the pain it would cause someone. I'm the type of person that cant see someone emotionally hurt without myself feeling really bad for that person. Other than that... no. I dont see a reason to.

Ok. I really don't like to lie for a few reasons.
1. Like Susie said, it instantly makes me feel guilty, and it will eat me up inside. It will not leave my head until I correct it.
2. I'm the person that warns you when you ask me how something looks on you, that you might not like my answer. I'm kind of more than a little brutal.
3. I'm an absolutely horrible liar. Even with white lies. Its painfully obvious and often more devastating to see someone lie horribly, then for them to tell you the god honest truth.
4. I would want to know the blunt truth. No matter how painful, or embarrassing. If I look like a complete ass, or that idea is just dumb, or it was a horrible joke.... don't let me make the same mistake.

...However... I lie to customers all the time. They are on a need to know basis. Yeah my lab may not be actually backed up, but I'm not going to stress myself out to get something done in half of the time we guarantee it to be done, so that they can not show up until 3 hours after that.
Also, my mother does not need to know everything. Her approval means jack to me... which may seem harsh, but if you knew my mother you would completely understand.
