Yeah it is small, its also laying on its back so to speak and not standing straight up, hence the custom mount.

I don't daily drive the car so I trickle charge it.

You're wrong (or should I say misled) about the COLD cranking amps. They list it at 680 cranking amps, not cold cranking amps... and there's a big difference. They dont mention the cold cranking amps because they're obviously going to be low. Its not a magical wonder battery... its similar to what else is out there just with a more expensive price tag since it says AMS on it...
So, in conclusion... Deka still pwns.

Cranking amps is a rating of a batterys ability at 32 degree's f for 30 seconds continus.
Cold cranking amps is the batterys ability at 0 degrees f for 30 seconds continous.
I understand that ams just slaps a sticker over another battery & adds more, as i said if i paid full price i would not have done it. Most small batteries will be fine. The boxer engine is a little toy when it comes to starting, 4cyl with low compression makes for a easy roll over. As for being misled i wasent it was just a typo. I deal with battery's everyday, how is this for amperage?

The AMS battery started up last night in my car's indicated 6 degree weather. It passes the test.

And if you live in Allentown you can hop out to Kutztown and pick it up crazy cheap directly from East Penn

I have a Deka battery in my Bug (the same type as the Optima) and I love it. I got it because the bugs are known to rust under the back seat from the battery leaking.

i turned over the ams battery in 6 degree weather for 30 seconds to prime the turbo and it still fired right up no problem.

I'm not saying its not a capable battery... just that I find it suspect that dont list cold cranking amps, which most other manufacturers use as the standard of measurement. 680 cold cranking amps would be very impressive, but its nothing to get excited about if they're talking about cranking amps compared to the competition, and I cant say for sure, but its unlikely that thats more than your stock full sized battery.

Miata batteries are small, nothing like the one posted here, but they offer good reliability and use and are smaller than most other OEM.

My Odyssey battery (tiny one) started up in -18* up here in state college without a fuss... and every time since it was that cold since then.

Do what I did and get a subaru genuine block heater.
Got mine from ebay from a Subaru Dealer New for 70 bucks shipped.

Easy install, and def makes the car start alot faster.
