I wouldn't do that either. If we're going to get technical, rubbing more and more lotion on it all at once only moistens the scabs up enough to allow them to get rubbed right off...causing the same problem as scratching them off. Put a good amount of lotion on and leave it alone until it gets dry again. I usually put lotion on 5-6 times a day on a healing tattoo.

I see what you're saying, but it is still a lot better than scratching. Scratching tears up the skin which, like you said, could cause the ink to bleed out. The whole point of keeping it moisturized to to help it heal naturally. My tattoos all came out fine, so I stand by what I said if it's absolutely necessary.

Rubbing them off and scratching them off are both premature ways of getting rid of dead scabs that aren't fully dead and dettached from the body. Both methods have the same ill effects. Scabs hang on to living skin until the skin underneath it heals enough to battle the elements. Tattoo ink is injected into living layers of skin cells. So when a scab gets rubbed/scratched off, there is great potential that the living layers the scab is atattched to is going to come with it thus pulling out ink.

Yeah, that's not going to help. We need to actually see your skin to know what "swelling" you're talking about.

Sounds incredibly shady to me but I'll wait to pass judgement until I see pics. (although I already have my suspicions)

Where did you get it done? Did you do any research on the shop/artist? Was everything that he used sterile including the ink?

I've heard good things about Deep Six. I, however, have no personal experience with them. Maybe you just had an alergic reaction to the ink?

LOL I just want to see pics, that's all. And although I'm not claiming your dude is doing this, tattoo artist pull that shady trick all the time. LOL They get you to pay all up front, do a super small section, make you reschedule the rest and cancel your next appointment over and over because they're sick or have a family emergency etc. LOL!!! That way you paid for something that will take FOREVER if EVER get done.

People need to be careful of this ****. LOL

Ok he mentioned Deep Six...and those are some of the best dudes in the biz!!! got 2 award winning tat artist at that shop. So I'd agree with whatever they say. if they say you need to come back, for whatever the reason...listen.

Mind if I ask who is doing yours??? If its Paul Acker or Pastor you are a luck mans...their waiting lists are ridiculous sometimes.

If the shop's even 1/2 way reputable, they would be using fully organic inks which have like a .001% chance of allergic reactions. I definately don't think it's the ink.
