I started doing this recently, and am getting back into the swing of things. The above should be your minimum regiment.
This should be mandatory reading for anyone who goes to a gym!

After a year off I ready to get back into to it starting December. However my ultimate goal is to get back in shape for spring and summer 5k races.

BTW, has any ever used the PSX system from TV? I know a musician who travels like 30-40 out of 56 weeks a year and swears by this system.

Edit: Yea the PS90X or what ever it is vvvvvvv

Planet fitness $10 a month special rate for one year. I have a coupon for the offer is you want it. I think it ends December 12th to get the promotion for the next year. You can afford $10.00 a month just don't eat out once per week.

Haha thanks guys.

And here's where I'm ganna get ultra-bashed...

I don't look EXACTLY twig like, as when I was at the height of my pushup/situp thing I was doing 2 reps of 150 each, but I slowed down because I was starting to bulk up and not be as fast or limber as I was used to. Also at my old job I had to love ~900-1000lbs games kinda often so that was a workout pretty much, but I don't work there anymore.

There's no real gyms out here also, remember...98% of you guys are mid east to eastern PA.

And my diet? Heh. Well thanks to being an ex nerd, I never eat a lot. I'm incredibly picky.

I've vowed to start with my work out again tonight, but with some stuff I learned in steadicam, so we'll see.

well you're not getting anywhere without a proper diet first. so before you even start on your work out regimen, you need to formulate a diet

I started to work out without slacking off two months ago. I first maxxed out on the bench to see what I could do. Then after that I worked towards the goal I set. My first goal was to get to 200lbs on the bench and I did it in two months. I started off with 135lbs. Then everyday work on 75% of your max. After every week go up about 5lbs on your max. Right now my goal is to do 210lbs on the bench, which is 10lbs more than last week.

Same thing goes for curling weights and sit ups. Set a goal and try to reach the goal. Another thing to keep in mind is that its not about quantity of the work out, its about the quality.

P.S. I am not trying to brag about how much I can lift. I just used it as an example. My overall goal is to reach my weight which is 250lbs.

Its a good idea to work on your legs as well. Do squats and run.

The diet is where I will always have to just work around. I don't know why but I'm picky and never expand on it. I can honestly operate fine from about 7am-12pm on just a glass of milk. Did that for a couple years...that was fun.

And I'm constantly running around. Thats the nice thing, I'm ok with parking in the back of parking lots and walking, and at school I almost always use the steps. (140 steps FTW)

you may as well just not bother if you're not going to alter your diet

okay, you're picky. that's no excuse. I'm picky too; o.c.d. picky (diagnosed, not like most people that just say they are). I actually guarantee I'm way more picky with food than you'll ever be.

if you don't want to do something about your diet because you're "picky" then that's your loss. I hope you understand that diet should be #1 on your "Help get me in shape..." list and without focusing on it the most, you will not get far.

I thought things like this were a given. but yes, I agree with everything he said except that last part.

abs, like any other muscle, needs rest after you've worked them out. do not work them after every workout.

just because your muscle isn't sore doesn't mean it's not being overworked

and just because everybody you know does it doesn't mean it's right..

all the bodybuilders and powerlifters that impress me that I know in person only work out their abs once or twice a week..

but I understand why you think it's okay to work your abs every time you work out. most people in the gym also do this. and I see that most people in the gym are NOT impressive.
