If noone bought the place two years ago for $250K then there's a good chance that there's something seriously wrong with it. Especially with that much land and the renovations that you saw. Unless the $250k figure that you saw meant something else, like where the bid was starting at. Auctions can get confusing.

In fact, reading your description of the home in the first post I would say thats likely the case.

Well Apparently, there is a land developer that bought all of the land surrounding the house and the owner of the farm refused to sell out until the day he died. The family has hence refused to allow the land developer buy the property as well and has placed stipulations on the property that it cannot be divided or plowed over. Meanwhile theres a development of 500k+ houses surround this little farm holdout. I can picture the parties now lol. 100 cars parked on the lawn, people crashing in all of the surrounding buildings and the neighbors watching from their pool houses and hot tubs bitching.

Is that even legal?

I could careless because I dont want to change anything about the layout/ historical value of the property.
