I'm definately doing South St. I've done it a long time ago and enjoyed it. I like that kind of stuff. I want to hit up an awesome cheese steak place (perferrably someplace I can walk to). Most likely hitting up the Aquarium in NJ (I know it's ot Philly, but...). Also most likely stopping by to say hello.

Is Pat's or Geno's within walking distance of South St.?

All I can say is there across the street from each other. I don't know how far they are from south street though.

I haven't tried Pat's but I know that Geno's only makes and ok cheesesteak. Its way over hyped and seems like a fast food place more than a cheesesteak shop. I'd rather go to small local places where they have something to prove and a reason to make damn good food.

IMO there is better cheesesteaks to be had in Philly. There is a place in Northern Liberties that is very good. Little tiny Italian place. Lots of great restaurants and cafes in that area too.

South St./Headhouse Squ. is cool for awhile. Penns landing is fun for a little while. Dave and Busters. The Gallery can kill some time. The area around Independance Hall can entertain for a bit, especially if you walk up and down Market St. Washington's Square is a relaxing park to chill out if you need a break.

very true there is some good eating in northern liberties. my favorite i "la casuela" right next to st.peters church probably the greatest mexican restuarant in the whole tristate. make sure you get the "Tres Leches" for dessert.

its a little bit of a walk but would be a pretty quick ride....they are relativley close...i actually take south street home when i go to pats just cause its the way ive always gone home....

i just went to a place called tonys i think on 5th and south pretty good steak...just as good as pats i thought...but i cant really tell the difference in a wiz without from different places like some people can....

oh and despite what the one dude said, do not go to the races.....your car is too pretty for that.

Yeah, I am. That's why I might as well hit up some Philly stuff while I'm down there since I live so far away.

lol i love food, so i'd never turn down pats or genos, but i'd much rather have a good ol' fashioned cheesteak from Pizza Shoppe at Castopr and Lycoming where I grew up. Chopped up and roll stuffed to high hell.. none of that "3 slabs of meat on a roll" shyt---for $8. I agree, Pats, Genos, Tony Lukes are all hyped up. I'm a fatty, so food is food and yea it's good, but I feel bad for tourists that honestly think Genos and Pats are the only "real" cheesesteaks on earth.

If your on south street,... hit fat tuesday and have a 190 octane slushy!!! or 2..lol

190 Octane = 190 Octane®
Our top seller! Combines Orange Juice and Orange Flavors with 190 Grain Alcohol. Strong.

it might taste fruity, but don't dare underestimate its power!!! It's grain alcohol and you will indeed get tipsy off of 2 of these. 3 and you won't (shouldn't) be driving. lol
