i just remember the 'egg drop' at the engineering school in college... it was a challenge to make a way to drop an egg from the highest point without it breaking... they were getting up to the 4th story and above.

They launched them from the third story of the engineering building and if I remember correctly, they were hitting the library steps which is maybe 200+ yards away.
From what I was told is angle of attack of the wings in relation to the launch speed and balance of the fuselage. No one would give their calculations out though. |

Sad to say I'm with purl on this one. A paper plane with more than "fold here, then throw" as building plans, is more than I am interested in doing.
