What I was told is that the shop owner was hearing the vtec crossover and thats the sound he *didnt like*. And either way,if he didnt like the way the car sounded and had fears of it blowing up,why continue to dyno? As a shop owner,to prevent an event like this, wouldnt you just cut the dyno, charge the customer for the pulls that were done and call it quits?

here's what you're suggesting...
shop hears something they dont like, mentions it to the customer customer says its fine its supposed to be like that shop ignores customer and takes car off the dyno shop then charges the customer, although they did not deliver what they said they would come on, that doesnt make much sense, does it? to the issue at hand... the main argument, and the only one that could even be put on the dyno would be if they set up the dyno incorrectly and somehow that led to the engine over revving and blowing. i dont know how thats possible but i'm not a dyno expert so i'll leave it open as a possibility. this was the initial argument and is the ONLY argument that could be made. a shop cannot be held responsible for parts, installs, maintenance, etc. of all the cars that come in out of nowhere which they have no clue about. you're responsible for the health of your own car, and when you throw it on a dyno its so you can do some full throttle pulls, which obviously stress the motor. if it blows, that sucks, but that has nothing to do with the dyno and isnt the shops responsibility at all. so like i said, if you can prove that the dyno was set up wrong and show without a doubt that it is the reason the engine blew, then please do so. any other argument is a waste of breath.

Well it sucks for the car owner to have his engine blown up but you really cant blame the dyno for that... i lost an engine (rod bearings) on the dyno but i knew the risk... so yeah it sucks but its the chance you take. i just rebuilt and moved on.. if you take your car to a dyno and you dont take the preventative measures to make sure your car is ok ...ie fresh oil , fresh plugs, etc its up to you...no one else.

Menace, you should smack yourself for listening to you friend and posting something FOR HIM (what is he a toddler?) in order to publicly degrade someones buisness. Tell your boy to learn how to build a motor or something.
