I've been on it a few times as a kid for short hikes with my dad and step mom up in Connecticut. I know he hiked it with a friend after they graduated high school and planned to hike it for a week+. Apparently they made it 3 days then found their way into a small town and had my grandma pick them up haha

my sister and her boyfriend tried to hike the entire thing... they got about half way before knee/ankle injuries forced them off the trail.
they have many, many, maaaaaaaaaaaany stories. if you're one of the through-hikers (i.e. people trying to make it the entire way) you can expect to get a "trail name" (i.e. nickname that everyone on the trail knows you by... they probably won't ever know your real name), and you can also expect to be fed lots of alcohol and other intoxicants...

I've hiked short sections of it... like one trail crossing to another...

I must say though, there are some really beautiful scenery out there but there are some really crappy boring parts too.
wait was this when u ran away? this is confusing, is this georgia place another time, or when u were 12?
