Re: Official Domestics vs. Imports ish talking thread...

sorry, but i can't stand the whole "i can turn better than you" argument. sounds like owners trying to make up for their lack of tourque. i can turn really good too when i'm doing it at 30mph! i could care less about turning abilities, you aren't doing sharp turns when racing on the highway or the street, and definetly not at the drag strip. what good is it to be able to turn well when you're getting you butt kicked on the street?

now an sti and possibly a wrx if done correctly...those are good imports to me. they are quick and have good handling. that i like. if i had the cash i would get an sti, i've always loved that car.

i am not a fan of the evo. i have driven it and i think it was very hyped up with it arrived here and the car is a disappointment compared to what was expected (and seen in japan), especially for the price tag. i'd take my srt over an evo any day. it's sad when one of the most sought after cars finally comes to the us and can get its butt handed to it by a 20k neon (yes it really can. i beat two evos when i was stock, and i wasn't stock for long).

Im gonna have to go ahead and disagree with this comment!! What are you basing your hatred off of? I hope its not because some of them are slow or have the ability to be riced out? I mean **** dude, look at all the domestic rice. you have the great mustangs with the gtr badges on them, the cavaliers, sunfires and neons with some of the worst body kits ever and all in an attempt to look more import-esque. Atleast with a honda you have the ability to swap in one of their higher output motors and walk all over the above mentioned domestic rice. Oh and the honda will still be a reliable daily driver. i also must point out that the only reason the car you are driving exists is because of the pressure that was put on the domestic market by the import market. Its whole concept is based off of import cars.. you know low displacement turbo. Why hate? i can see how you may dislike some of the people and the stupid things they do to the cars but if thats the case you have to hate all cars, every car will have a goup of people that do dumb things!!!

Since this is the ish talking thread i have to ask. Are you aware that your car essentially is an import? The parent company of dodge is daimler/chrysler... a predomenantly german owned and operated company. Also, they have no assembly plants in the united states, only in mexico and canada, as I understand it. By those standards the hondas you all love to hate so much are more american than your srt-4 because atleast they are assembled in the usa.

i have respect for all cars.. its all about what you like...if your into doing cricles then do that...and if you like going straight then do that..both take alot of skill so i dont make fun of either one...and about that list of hated and not hated inports...if even one riced out the same 5 cars it would start to get really gay...

the srt-4 is built in the belvidere, il plant. all neons are built there. last time i checked, illinois was part of the us. i think it might have been one of those red states, but technically it's the same country.

i don't hate hondas. i hate their owners. there's nothing wrong with the cars themselves. there's something definetly wrong with the fast and furious morons who put 9 foot wings on them and stickers and think they have a 10 second car. i have to laugh at a car that has 100 hp and like 40 tq, i just find it amusing. but there are some fast honda's out there, but those are the ones with engine swaps and turbos. 99% of civic owners aren't going to put that kind of cash into their cars.

i'm not the only one out there that has beaten the almighty evo. stock for stock with an srt it is a drivers race. awd will get off the line quicker, but the srt catches up when 2nd comes around.

you'll see me at the track whenever etown decides to stop postponing the opening and let us race!

Errr....

Seriously? I know the SRT-4 is underrated from the factory, and stuff, but I have difficulty believing it will beat an evo stock. I guess maybe if you factor out the launch, it would be closer... but what is that? THat's akin to telling you you have to turn off the boost when you race an n/a 4cyl car.

I'm glad I bouth an STi ;)

i ran a 13.8@101 stock, and i have an 03 that came with the smaller injectors and no lsd. given, that's not exactly common for an 03, but 04 and 05's run 13.7-13.8 stock on a regular basis.

But EVOs run looow 13's stock, on a regular basis. Trap speed is about 5mph higher than SRT-4s, typically, which points to the AWD launch.

since when do evo's run low 13's in the 1/4 stock? every evo owner i've spoken to runs high 13's, maybe mid, but quite close to srt numbers. stock sti's run low 13's, and an stock evo or srt is no match for an sti.
