What about trying to snag a WRX 2.5 from one of the '06s and newer? I know from the numbers I've seen that they are torque monsters - although it's been greatly debated over on NASIOC, from my research, it appears that they are very similar (well, the fundamental part, the block): http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...php?p=21723897 for example.
The main difference appears to be the components in the engine (not the only...I want to emphasize that, before I get flamed, ha), not necessarily the block itself... So you could get one of those and put in some stronger internals (not sure what they come with exactly) to improve it. Maybe save a buck or end up with a stronger build than a stock STI one... You can always keep an eye out for a used EJ257...or a rebuild if that's up your avenue. I'd save for some transmission work too, with the numbers you quoted, but I'd imagine you took care of that with so many miles on the car. |

I have the entire kit which includes all necessary gaskets, seals, pumps, etc, as well as some items that other kits do not include but are VERY smart to do at the same time as a hybrid assembly. Pricing is very low at $2450, and I have a group buy thread about this kit as well. PM me for more info, and thanks for the ad Jeffros! |
