I was driving the loud yellow piece of ****! There had better be action pics. I wasn't fast, but for the first run of the season in a strange car, it wasn't too bad. Also picked up slicks for my own car. Good day, but long.

Well glad somebody got to autocross yesterday. Was down in D.C. for the first points event, with calls for scattered thunderstorms during the day. There was one at 9am and another at around 11:30am, both only lasting about 5 minutes or so. And then the big one came, and wouldn't let up just after the start of the 4th heat (of 6 heats). The skies opened for about 30-45 minutes with lightning and crazy winds. With more high power storms on the way, they cancelled the remainder of the event. So the drive down ended up being a total waste as I didn't get to run, just drove down to get soaked. But had fun hanging out with people and at some good BBQ. Still waiting what the verdict is going to be for those of us that didn't get to run. First event I've ever seen get cancelled halfway through.

Glad you guys had fun though and looking forward to the pics.

Times aren't up yet, from what I hear, because of a huge issue with the timing software in the 3rd heat. Evidently everyone's times were recorded, but it's taking a while to sort them out and organize them before posting.

Yea...they had a laptop by the starting line taking in times and who was going onto the coarse during the last two heats. Was not a good sign.

This guy was prepared with two quarts of oil on the front seat at the start of the day. Nice car though.

SVTF, you might be three-wheeling it here:

SVTF, they're not my pictures. I was running 2nd heat. Borrowed the philly region LeMons corolla. 3rd pic from the bottom of my last post.

wrxcel, see if this link works for you. The first novice school is next weekend, and I think there are still spots open.

http://www.phillyscca.com/forum/view...php?f=8&t=4069

There are 3 novice schools during the year, classroom instruction for 2-3 hours on saturday and instructor ridealong during the autox the next sunday.

Or just go out and try it. I did. Heck, I hope to attend one of the novice schools this year because after 6 events I still have no formal instruction...

I'm currently on my 4th year with no formal instruction.

While there is no real substitute for formal discussion and seat time (i.e., an actual school) to learn early and quickly, through research for pointers (I STRONGLY suggest Andy Hollis Top Ten Autocross Driving Tips...even have it up in my cube at work!) and having instructors ride along any chance you get, you can still learn fairly quickly. You just need to ask those who are more experienced for their help. But in the end, there's no substitute for seat time.
