im kinda the opposite. i dont find it overly attractive. maybe its me but some girl workin ona car and gettin dirty just doesnt excite me.

sure, they can be somewhat interested and smile and nod but really, i like my girlie girls who would rather be shopping at the mall buying something pink than be at a car show wishing she had somebodys wheels...

I like girls that don't share my interests, but can appreciate them.

My girlfriend is interested in cars, in a non mechanical way that is. She just wants to learn the basics, so she isn't totally lost when I talk about cars, hah.

But to be serious. Its fun to do stuff together and share some common interests, people generally need that to get along for a long period of time. But in a relationship I think people should be able to have their own thing going on, their own interests.

How do you learn about things outside of yourself and outside of your own scope of knowledge if you and your gf/bf share the same interests? And do you not get bored of someone, well...more so annoyed by someone, if they're always around... doing what you're doing...

Maybe I'm just atypical in that I enjoy having time to myself and being away from a g/f and doing something by myself on a regular basis. Might be why I won't be living w/ another g/f for a loooong time. lol

I agree with you, my gf knows enough to understand what I am talking about, but I don't really need her wrenching on cars and coming to every single meet with me (don't get me wrong, I enjoy her company, but it's not necessary). We each have our own interests and I think it makes our relationship healthier that way.

In my relationship, as far as cars are concerned, I'm the one that wears the pants. B knows the basics, but I'm the one that's more hardcore into it -- and it's nice that way.

Not to mention hilarious when he has me come outside to look in his engine bay, points at something and goes, "What is that thing? I can't figure out what the hell that is!" .. and I stare at him and go, "Babe, that's the secondary horn for your alarm."

Cars is how I met my boyfriend. I pulled (even though he STILL doesn't believe me!!!) the engine out of my stealth, and couldn't get the new one back in!! He offered to help install it for me in my parents' driveway. And it's been a downhill spiral ever since HAHA

In all seriousness though, it's something he and I have in common, and since it consumes his life, it's probably a good thing since I also help him out with his business. At least I'm a secretary that has a clue what a customer is talking about over the phone!

He goes to meets without me sometimes, and other times we go together. He goes out to race with the guys without me all the time as well. I can talk circles around most guys when it comes to cars, but just because we both share a passion for cars, doesn't mean that I'm glued to his side for every single car event.

I still do my girlie shopping, and he still yells at me for wasting money on shoes and clothes! Just because I can turn a wrench, doesn't mean I don't like throwing on the hot-pink heels when I go out I'm still a girl at the end of the day.

For me, the car stuff is my getaway from everything else we do together, so I can go out with the boys and not have to worry about not including her because it's really not her thing anyway. Don't get me wrong, car chicks are sweet, I just don't know if I want to date one. Plus I can't have a gf that is faster than me haha.
