That's awesome, says a lot about a shop that's willing to step up like that.

if you can possibly pull it off you really should go for something stronger than stock gears... if you like to drive your car hard, there's a good chance you'll break your gears. if you have more power than stock the problem will just multiply from there. its not that you're driving 'wrong' you're just probably driving hard and the stock gearset wont handle that...
PPG or STi 6MT would put a big smile on your face... its more money but its better than putting all this money into the same weak gears again.

holllly crap. you spent $4000 on replacing your stock tranny? is it too late already? wow, wow.
you can definitely get into a 6MT for that much or maybe just a little more than that including install... definitely a no brainer.
either that or at least find a used lower mileage 5MT and only pay $800-$1000 for it... $4000 for a stock trans, wow, i'm sorry man... that hurts me even.

just to follow up, i'm not trying to be a dick... it just hurts me when people spend so much money on stuff like that. i hope you dont have any problems in the future, but if you do... get in touch with me and i'll see if i can help you find an 'affordable' 6mt swap... good luck with this trans though, hopefully you wont have to deal with any of this again.

As long as you're saving do plenty of research and find the best option for how you drive. I really wanted a six speed but after looking into it I wasn't comfortable with the homegrown dccd controllers so I ended up with ppg's.

what didnt you like about the spiider dccd controller? i was very happy with mine and now he even has a newer more advanced version out. if that wont do it for you you can spend $400 on the neetronics controller which is no doubt more advanced than the oem unit. orrrr go ahead and spend $1000 on the rocket really controller if you're an animal

Honestly it just came down to me driving the car in the snow. When push came to shoove I didn't feel comfortable with the sollutions available to me when I wanted to do the swap instead of the ppg's. That and you know I dig doing these fun runs so having the ratios of the ppg set was awesome for me on the back roads. Of course the hand off there is that my gas mileage blows and would have been a lot better with the 6 speed.

Again, amen to that. I'm picking up an 84 plymouth horizon for that very purpose. gears are sooo expensive.

its probably too late but i've got an 06 STi tranny for sale, includes everything you need for the install (except front axle adaptation, which is dependant on the year of the car)... same price you paid for the WRX gears...
