EWG, Custom tune, and a full 3" turbo back, not that one you have which tapers.

Or just let me drive it. LOL

oh and just for reference, my weaker tranny lasted for 35k miles and 15k of those it was with a vf34 and 300hp.

I have the 02 trans and it lasted for 102K with the previous owner having a vf34 on it for about 20K. It is possible but don't make the mistakes of those before you and think that yours won't break, especially with taking it to the track.

i havent seen you run a pass in your car dimitiri. once you prove a pass MAYBE we can discuss that lol.

is the EWG a proven horsepower upgrade on stock turbos? i was reading somewhere that it didnt make much power over the stock tune.

a full tune is in order without a doubt.

if im going to spend 3000 dollars on a trans, id rather buy a shell and build a track car.

Nah, i'd rather not. I ran 14.3 BONE STOCK, 2.0L.

With my vf34, which was years ago, I ran 12.6-12.8, all runs ranged in that time frame.

And yeah, you're right, never ran the 18g but you've seen me stretch cars on the street.

You will never drive that car as good as me, trust me.

If you're not prepared to buy an aftermarket transmission somewhere down the road, you shouldn't be modding a Subaru.

Why not? It takes a certain amount of power to trap 105 MPH. The name stamped on the turbo doesn't make a difference. I was consistently trapping 104s on the stock turbo in my WRX, and broke three WRX transmissions before going to the VF34.

Why don't you ask some more people what you should do to your car instead of searching yourself? Theres an idea, since you're such you have such tuff' guy replies.

I'm gonna agree here, they break if they break. Theres no saying what breaks it and what doesnt. I'm on my third also. One broke on my stock turbo at 15k miles and then I snapped 2 teeth off my pinion gear with the 16g at 46k. The second time it broke I was cruising to work. But Ive seen stock ones go before. Stock trannies can be found for fairly cheap prices. I bought my new one for 900 with 24k on it.

QTF!

Most of the WRX owners on this forum have grenaded their trannys at least one. Whether is was racing or just driving down the street.

Not yet. Once you upgrade the turbo you more than likely will. I run my WRX regularly and launch hard but I managed to trash 4th gear somehow. Once your in the upper 200 WHP range the 5MT is prone to failure.

The forums have many threads listing 5MT failures.

I do not believe the 6MT will improve 1/4 mile ET's or MPH due to the addition weight and extra shift in the 1320.

I will find out this summer after I get my 6MT installed.

What AFTERMARKET transmissions do you talk about? STi = isn't aftermarket. Does MUGEN or SPOON make a transmission? ha

STi isn't aftermarket but they can certainly hold all the horsepower your looking to make. People with Gt35R's run a STi tranny with little to no problem.

I'm really not going to touch that second part of the above question as I hope it was a joke.

Right but its like comparing ass and tits. You need power to make horsepower and more horsepower to make higher traps. Are you going to pick up 5mph in the qt in a wrx with out doing a turbo? And while I shouldn't have posted that trannies should be discussed in this tread is....

The reality is 5mt can and will break at at any horsepower levels dependent on how you drive doing everybolt on possible with out upgrading the the turbo will most likely yield positive results on the trans. I ran the VF34 with 300 and have no problems.
