What car to get?

I was gonna look into 350Z's... but then I did some research and it turns out that the SRT-4 was a faster car... so thats what I bought...

And to think... I was also considering a used Porsche Boxster... but again... not as fast as the SRT...

The fastest stock Camaro's run 12.9. There wasn't a LSx car built that wouldn't stomp on a Z in a straight line with all things being equal.

I'm not hating on the Z, I personally like them, but don't go around over-estimating you or your car's abilities. Beating a couple "fast" cars, doesn't mean you can go babbling on about the Z's superiority. There's a "fast" food chain and the Z is in there, but definitely no where near the top.

+10 on the GTO. I forgot about that, even though I've been telling my friend to pick up one of the 6.0s. The GTO's are getting really cheap. And Z's are not end all be all of cars. They are nice, but lets keep everything in perspective here.

the reason i post that is JUST for clarification ...lets not get all worked up...i would honestly enjoy meeting up with you or anyone with a clean, STOCK ls1 then goin out to get some half price appetizers at applebees (boneless buffalo make me gazm)...when i lined up against the ones i did, i expected to be done by 3rd gear...i still hope they were just crappy drivers...

if you read my post, what was said was that stock for stock for stock the z is better choice...EVERY camaro, srt (stage 1,2 or however they're measured), sti, mustang gt so on and so forth that i raced i beat...MY CAR IS NOT THE FASTEST...don't claim it to be...im just saying that its just odd how everyone has boost leaks or needs tunes or misses shifts every pass and i have intake/exhaust and a nice clutch/flywheel setup and its more than enough for what i was looking for...i really actually enjoy being beaten, i honestly am what i like to call a "car enthusiast"...i don't just like nissan, honda, vw, mitsu, subies, domestic....if the car is nice, the car is nice...i am just emphasizing (sp?) the fact that i never said my car was the god of the car world...it would just be the best choice out of the cars given, price range, and performance level STOCK FOR STOCK

i understand that...and i gave an oppinion and simply stated that it was a great choice for me because of the reasons listed and felt like clarifying the misconceptions of the typical tristate user...i guess i should've just said in the first post "go test drive a 350z, i like it" and not said why

I have done plenty of racing in my day, so don't go throwing me into your "typical TST user" statement.

I think the Z is a solid choice at that price point, but instead you had to throw in, check out a Z, I can beat LS1 Camaro's, Mustangs, etc. all day long. The truth is you can't. I suggested a GTO and listed its personal merits. If you want me to, I could talk about how easily my LS1 GTO raped a couple of Evo's on the highway when I was stock, but that's not the point anyone is trying to make and in all honesty I know that stock for stock the Evo is faster than a LS1 GTO. If you honestly believe that your Z (without serious mods) has a snow balls chance in hell of beating a LS1 car, you're dreaming.

Looking over your list, the fastest car listed is running 12.33 @ 110 on slicks and has a "built block". A camaro can run that time with a lid (CAI), headers and a cat-back. The cars are in completely different worlds. So, you may have beaten one or two of your buddies LS1 car's on the street, but believing that the Z is faster than any LS1 car is insane. Like I said, know where you stand and know what your car is capable of. If you'd like a demonstation, one can be arranged.
