i can vouch that pep boys is full of retards. i work there. in the shop not inside the store but yea the parts dept. is mostly idiots. granted there are a few knowledgeable employee's but for the most part they are 16-19 yr old kids that think 1.5L dual point civic's are fast.

Thank god I have gained a real good relationship with the guys at a local A&A. I go there, and they take real good care of me. Even if I dont buy anything, I still get answers for my questions.

Advance Auto is usually pretty helpful for me. And I always tried to be helpful when I worked there. I hope I was anyways. Whenever I go in there though I get helped pretty well but I suppose thats because I know the people there lol.

most people in the parts department don't know jack **** about cars... or think they do...

head around back to the guys in the service area and just say, "those idiots in the parts department don't know jack ****... would you be able to help me if you've got a second?"

I worked at pep boys as a service writer... more times than not the mechanics would go into the parts department and get what they need... so they're probably better to be asking for help... slip them a 5 and a thank you.

I have to agree with you there,i used to work at the clifton store when they had comercial.I used to have to watch as the higher ups that knew nothing about autos make a fool of themselves, then i would step in when they walked away.I swear when they didnt want to do there job they would say "dealer item".

I hate chain autoparts stores. I prefer to go to united discount autoparts on county line road. I think it is considered Huntingdon Valley. The guys are really knowledgable and can get just about anything.

I love walking into pepboys and giving them spark plug part numbers. Most of the time the kids look at me really weird and just ask me what car it's for and then look up the stock one. Then they had me the box of stock ones, lol.

Relax, bud. When the dude with a drag Honda and a boosted daily that has had fast Honda's for years AND fabs his own parts tells the new kids on the block that they're doing it wrong, it's time to step back and learn something.
