Anywho, now I will have to find a higher power mig welder. Something better than my current 120volt Lincoln. My old school Lincoln Tombstone arc welder rocks. I can do some crazy thick stuff with that.

My welder is rated up to 5/16" which is plenty enough for anything I have plans for.

One of the instructors in I think Street Rod teaches Lincoln classes. Im going to take that or find out where I can take that class so I can be Lincoln welding certified in addition to my I-Car certification.

at work i got a big ass miller 220 volt stick welder, pretty old, dont know much about it
and i got another one thats generator powered, but its alot smaller. we probaly use it only 2 jobs a year

at the union school they just got a new building, with 20 brand new welders/booths
i think we will do some vertical and overhead stuff.

they said if your employer doesnt check you off for doing any welding that year, u have to get recertified, so i think u have to do it once a year to keep ur certification up to date

My last class tonight. I would recommend this class to anyone interested in welding. The main focus is stick welding, since it the most common. I have been using the MIG machines for the past 6 classes. Great stuff.

Almost everything that I welded in the past was done wrong, and almost all info. that I picked up from non-pro weldors was wrong also.

Now I can weld with confidence and feel safe driving my Jeep when it is done! I can almost make prettier welds with the stick welder than I can with the mig(on heavier metal, of course).

Maybe I'll go get certified next.

I took the welding program at Middle Bucks Institude of Technology for a year. Because I only took it for a year (3 year program), I worked at my own pace, and learned much more than others who took the class for a year. I learned Stick, Mig, oxy fuel cutting, oxy fuel welding, oxy fuel brazing, and some serious fabrication skills.

I recommend it. Youll learn a lot.

I'm finally graduating WyoTech December 21st. 15 months, and many thousands of dollars later... and I feel it was almost all worth it (didnt think the ASM class was really worth it). I love the Chassis Fab class which is my final class and what I am currently in.

Relax, bud. When the dude with a drag Honda and a boosted daily that has had fast Honda's for years AND fabs his own parts tells the new kids on the block that they're doing it wrong, it's time to step back and learn something.

6010 is the tits, it can weld through just about anything, but 7018 makes a "prettier" looking weld. If you want a good time, try the hi-nickle rod, it will drive you crazy! Its funny, i learned stick first, TIG second and MIG last. Give me a few mitues with any and i am back in the groove, like riding a bike.
But generally speaking, welding it like finish painting, cleanliness is godliness, and technique is the key.
