hmm well my friend does have a 1988 or so celica sitting in his backyard that he'd pay me to take from him...think that'd be a better idea?

What do you mean "evo parts"? As in an Evo swap? I think your looking to around 20 grand for a complete Evo tranny, powertrain, ECU, other parts and ends, plus the install.

he wants to have the same handling and boost as an evo..not exactly a swap...he was just wondering if he could get the suspension and sway bars just like the evos

i dunno...he was just amazed at the sheer power and handling of the evo and wanted to turn his matrix into the same beast or similar

What you want is impossible, the chassis geometry is not the same.

Period.

If you want to do what I think you want to do, you are basically just buying an evo and putting matrix body panels on it.

How pointless is this idea?

if he had the buckets of money itd dtake to make this dream a reality, he wouldnt own a matrix to begin with.

why are there ppl here entertaining such a dumb idea, 300awhp matrix huh? honestly....would u really try to do this? fully built
engine and evo this and evo that blah blah blah....yeah dude pick evo parts, bc those cars r a dime a dozen in the junkyard.....

i feel like im taking crazy pills

ok the geometry may be impossible to overcome but what do you think he'd need to do to reach 300awhp and really good handling.

You would need a lot done to the engine I still don't know if it has the 1zzfe or the 2zzge. But either one it will take a lot because there aren't too many of either engine over 300whp running around.

alrighty....everyone thank you for your advice. im going to give it all to him and hopefully we make a decision on something. more likely than not, we are going to go snag that celica and leave it parked in my driveway until he gets time to fix it up.
