That's kinda overkill. The benefit of HDMI is better picture, and digital audio. He has no need for audio since VGA doesn't carry it. If there is such a thing as VGA -> component cable, I think that's your best.

Ive seen VGA to RCA IIRC. Id like to find VGA to Component. That should fix my problem correct?

Is there anything I can do to correct this? Tom Mendham There's probably little you can do to improve the image quality. Several things are at work here. The resolution you're feeding out of the S-Video port is, at best, 800-by-600. That means the HDTV has to scale the image up, and that may degrade the image quality. The video-encoder chip in many laptops usually does a relatively poor job of encoding video. Many HDTVs have VGA or DVI inputs, which can take a PC signal directly. But if yours doesn't, a better solution would be to get a VGA-to-component-video dongle, such as the Audio Authority Model 9A60 (www.audioauthority.com). That way, you can get much better image quality.
