Its crazy to think I used to live off of 350 dollars a week. I pay twice that in taxes now. also you need no education to do well in life, just gota be determined. Funny I grew up in a 1 bed motel room with my mom and 2 brothers most my life. Now I make very good money own 2 cars, a bike and a house.

I'm turning 22 soon...I make in the low-mid 20's an hour. Full benefits, etc etc.

And I love what I'm doing.

Exactly. Which is why in my post that you quoted, I said that you do have to be diligent in whatever you decide to do. In all honesty, other then recieving a piece of paper, those classes did absolutly **** for me. It was getting out there, and trying my hardest to get my foot in the door, and finally landing something just "ok" to gain some experience, then from there, it just takes some more hard work and diligence and it paid off / is paying off great for me. Same for anyone.

flat rate? and if so, do you actually make 20 per flat rate hour or is that what you average for what you work. if its flat rate hour thats really ****ing good. theres guys i work with who have been there for 20+ years that dont make that. last year i made double what i made the year before (for only 9 months too). then i lost that job over some BS and cuz i couldnt keep my mouth shut about certain things anymore. now im done. i was offered several jobs at other dealers but i just have no desire to stay in this business. i wanna try something new. sorry, didnt mean to hijack, im just in the same boat as blackbullett.

Here's a kicker for you, I make close to $30/hr. I have full benefits and the real kicker is, they don't even deduct from my pay for benefits. I have NO co pays, and no perscription costs either. Not to mention the company does give bonuses, and I am soon to get a raise and possibly a new position. It took some time to find a good job, but after bouncing around a few jobs, landed here and been here for going on 3 years.
No bull****, I just got a bonus of $14k, yes not a typo, $14k from my job lol. Granted taxes were taken out of that $14k but damn lol. I can even show the stub if you don't believe me haha.
Point is, I didn't spend a dime on education, and no aside from public grade/high school, neither did my parents. Again, working hard for something does pay off.

I'm a firm believer in finding ways to make my $$$ work for me. Make some money and invest it. Start up a small side business doing something you like, take the cash from it and make it work for you.

oh believe me, i work my balls off. i have been for the last 10 years. i got my first job at 13 and havent stopped since. its just that lately, i have no desire to get out of bed in the morning. the amount of bull**** i have to deal with compared to the amount of money i make, just isnt worth it to me anymore. not to mention it raises my stress level and then i go home and im always pissed off and take it out on the people around me. ive said it before, its pretty defeating to know that i spent x-amount of money on school, spend 10 hours a day at a job that i hate, to see some jerkoff who knows half as much as me making double the hours at almost double my hourly rate because he is married into the family. and this isnt a small company. i think we have 10 or so dealers. i had my heart set on becoming a cop pretty much my entire life. my dad kinda talked me out of it so i went to school for electrical and then automotive. now ive been in the field for about 4 years now and im burnt out. thats pretty ****in bad. so now i have shifted my focus on getting back in shape so i can get into the academy. but now thats kind of a bad thing because since thats my main focus, i cant concentrate on my job.
my boss says to me a couple weeks ago "your production numbers are down" and im thinking to myself "well no **** cuz, in my head, i quit this job like a month ago".

I hear ya. I had a job like that. It got to the point where I would get up, dressed, then drive to work and upon arriving I would actually have to convince myself to get out of the car and walk in the front door, instead of turing around and going back home and saying the hell with it.

Im my opinion, when you have to convince yourself to walk through the door, its time to go. And thats exactly what I did. Keep looking man, find something, then say "buh bye" to the people and place where you're at now.

No, that's just an hour. Overtime (anything after 8 hours) is 1.5x pay.
Premium holidays (4th of july, christmas, etc etc) is 20 hours pay. (ie:32 + 8 + 12...don't ask, that's how it is.)
Some other pay **** too. 6pm-6am = 50cent/hour increase.

Tough to argue with that. I bought my skid steer for "side jobs" and snow removal. $110/hour for driving around in the snow, and I made $400 this morning (1.5 hours) for moving dirt around to fill in a hole. Under the table, cash is king.

I love both of my jobs; as an electrician/electrical contractor I get to be creative, do what I want, get to see results, and work at my own pace, and the pay ain't too bad. With owning/operating the skid steer, I get paid over $100/hour (1 or 2 days/weekend, every weekend for the next 2 months I have a job every weekend), and most importantly, I get to be a kid all over again.

It's great having two jobs that I enjoy! I wouldn't even call the skid steer a job though, it's basically free money!

Hey guys yea I know hard work and determination pay off big time. I'm no slacker I work hard to. I originally went to Tech School for computers and started getting jobs in the computer field. I went from Best Buy, to Xcent(2nd cousins business, good ish) then to Commerce Bank......for all you new people if you want theres a thread about that. So I kinda hated doin computers just because of that guy so I ended up going to CSB as I mentioned before. I graduated great grades and GPA and what I did there was audio and video production and thats where I'm hoping to get into now.

Whats with all the hating on getting an education? Yes, some educations are extremely over priced and with the amount of degree carriers these days you are not "guaranteed" to be paid the big bucks. But an education is still valuable, it does open doors to you that otherwise would be slammed shut or would take twice as long to work up the ladder too. I went to a community college for two years and then to Temple, while working full time. When I graduated I went from working at Best Buy making $10 an hour to working for a marketing company making $20 at an entry level position.

I personally am not a fan of the work I do, I hate sitting at a desk all day. However, because of my education I was accepted into a university I would never have been accepted to out of high school. I am now in the process of getting everything together to work towards my certification as a commercial pilot. When all is said and done I may be over 70k in debt. However, the upside is I will not be sitting at a desk and will have the worlds best window office, plus the potential to work my way up to jobs that make over 250k. But, the money is not what is driving me, it is something I have always wanted to do and now I have the opportunity and I am taking it.

Basically what I am saying is an education can be valuable if you know what you want and have the determination to see it through.

MORE BULLISH Check this out:

so I go to work friday boss calls says I hear you got apps to go over I went yes I do she goes well u are reassigned i went huh. She said I needed to go to York North and answer there phones and send there people to my property. Eh w/e figured what the hell a day down there wont hurt plus they have a/c down there. well I go to leave friday and they say see you Monday
Me confused said what you mean. He goes your here for the next 40 hours atleast. First time I'm hearing this ok fine what time, he says 9-5:30 which sux because its an extra 15min drive from my other property. So I come in today and the one girl starts kinda having me do other things that aren't related to my property She goes ok well what time you wanna come in here and I'm like I was told 9-5:30 thats what I'll do. Then I pick up on the girls desk I was sitting at was Fired on friday. Finally I'm tired of being pushed around looked at the property manager and said I have a lease to go sign, I'll be back in like an hour. So I leave call my dad tell him all the bull**** and he's sayin how retarded it is and to talk to my boss and I told him I planned on it. So I did I get back to Academia and called my boss. Told her said listen you know I do whats asked of me and I do a good job and work hard but I'm tired of being ****in jerked around(good thing shes friends mom)
so i asked her wtf am I supposed to be doing cause they kinda had me doin other things she tells me tell them no ur there to get leases for academia I siad ok works for me but I wanna know what i'm doin so she calls the director who then informs her that I am to be down there 40 hours a week AND run Academia Suites. That I should be bringing all paper work and stuff to York North and working on it there PLUS work 5 hours on sat
This company is all over the place I am feelin like I'm getting jerked around
it sounds like theyre doing that I told my boss that to I'm like I dont like gettin jerked around and I am lookin for another job cause this is rediculous

I feel like I'm going nuts. I do a good job and get told all the time. I took a property over basically without the pay as mentioned before and almost have both buildings full which has never happened in that company from what I'm told and I get no credit but tossed around all over the place.

Go on monster.com or whereever you look for jobs and see how many jobs where at least a BACHELOR'S degree is required to be considered. That just scares me into pursuing my degree. But some people make a ton of money and never graduated high school.
