Nice try but i am sorry that would be a sick pc but try editing a video on it and it will fall flat on its face. try two 30" monitors that pc couldn't handle on of the mac 30" ers. 5.4ghz as opposed to 3.6 ghz sure 16gb of ram is more then 8 but the processor makes up for that.

nope, first, you missed that it is a dual 3.6ghz.. the motherboard package includes one, and i added another

secondly,.. cpu speeds dont add up like that a dual 2.7ghz does not mean the machine runs at 5.4ghz. most applications wouldnt even recognize the second cpu.

this machine would do just fine with video editing and why dont you think it can handle a 30" display? not an apple one because of their proprietary cables(like everything else) but any standard 30" will be fine,.. or a 46" lcd display, or a 108" dlp projector.. take your pick.

I was saying an apple display... about an application not recognizing both from what i understand that is incorrect but i may be mistaken you are right i didn't see the second processor for yours. Even something that powerful as what you have laid out would still not handle video and music as well as a an apple from my expierence that is... well next to an avid whihc certain macs are surpassing. I have to admit you knoww hat you are talking about and this has been a very civil arguement but at the end of the day i would be much happier with the mac and think it would be superior to the pc you have layed out... this is why they make vanilla and chocolate.

true true it all comes down to taste.

it is correct that only certain apps have dual processor support. typically it is the graphics and video apps that do support them

and yes i know my stuff i studied this formally for 7 years and unformally since i was a wee tike. thanks for taking notice

the machine i put together would certaintly outhandle the mac in the music department being that it has a thx soundcard and high end thx speakers

as for photoshop and video editing, it may or may not be better,.. i dont have benchmarks for either machine to make that comparison, and you cant "speak from experience" if youve never experienced something,.. but i can say for sure that if the mac still performs photo and video editing better, it is not to a degree that would hinder the pc user.. its probably only noticable in the numbers when it comes down to it,.. no matter which machine ended up with the better performance.

and again let me throw in games. we cant compare which machine will run them better as there arent too many available for the mac.. i think world of warcraft was the last significant game that came out??

also,.. yes of course an apple display wouldnt work, just like any other proprietary device wouldnt.

macs the way to go, i have owned a dell, then a vaio laptop with a beautiful screen, spilled water on that pos, and now its powerbook g4, the best computer ive ever owned, not only fast and relaible, but the appearance of any mac is much more elegant than any pc, no matter how many of those neon lights u put in it (ive seen it done before). My g4 is 1.33 ghz and 1.25gb ram and i run an external lcd at the same time with no problems, to do that with a pc u need to buy some sort of graffics card apparently, and pc's always crash and bug out sooner or later, they get slower as you put more media on them, im not saying macs dont slow down at all as you fill them with programs and stuff, but its hardly recognizable

But if you look on the apple site under games they have doom 3 which i didn't know but i would like to see a head to head on that game since it is pretty demanding for the computer. As for the music i am sure you know that alot of the west coast and now east coast music is getting made on macs personally if i had a studio i would have a mac cause thats what alot of studios have. I am not saying i have had an expierence with the computer you have "built" but i have had some time on some pretty crazy pc's as well as some pretty crazy macs and both are insane more then i personally would ever need... but want i think i would have one of each. There are alot of things on mac i like and very few i dislike i am sure you know virtual pc which i have and is cool, the best part was when my virtual pc got a virus and it couldn't do anything to the mac it was funny. But yeah as for video and photoshop i prefer to use a mac tho the pc version of pshop has gotten better by leaps and bounds.

Yeah halo came out for pc quite a while ago but halo was old news when it first came out. it was "great" on xbox because a console game never went that far before,.. but half life on pc had done it years before. likewise half life 2 makes a joke of halo 2.

doom 3 owned my computer, lol.. it was rediculous.

and as for using the make in a music studio.. it all comes down to what software is available. the hardware is there for either platform to excel.. but it cant do anything without the software. i dont know much about music production so i never looked into that type of software. cant really comment on it, but it wouldnt suprise me if mac had the leading software
