Yeah me too - I am nearing completion on my other engine. Then swap sometime late summer, break in, and then real boost.

sounds sick John, I want to do an anti-lag/launch control for flat shifting launching exc.., did you basically just tune it with your stand alone...?

Well the car was already tuned fuel wise for the boost that the launch control generates so it is technically tuned yeah. Its all controlled through the standalone, so it handles the timing retard and the fuel is already done for boost so it just references the fuel table.

There are 2 ways to get an "anti-lag" system:

1. This was the first method and used in the earlier WRC cars. A secondary fuel injector and spark plug was installed in a very robust exhaust manifold. This would inject and ignite fuel during idle and throttle lifts to burn fuel to keep the turbo rotating (just like a turbine or jet engine)

2. Newer way: Ignition timing is altered in a way to ignite the mixture very late in the combustion process. This in turn keeps the flame going even as it leaves the exhaust valves and through the manifold.

wikopedia doesn't explain this concept very well and focuses too much on how they supply the air needed for this combustion. Basically to have anti-lag, you need a way to ignite fuel right before the turbine (just like a jet engine)

Sostock92, you car does not have anti-lag and anti-lag is not a soft rev limiter either (flat foot shifting). They have some of the traits of anti-lag in that they tend to retard the timing and greatly raise EGTs due to much more flame escaping into the manifold. True Anti-lag is much more complex system.

I understand - but running negative timing, like I am, or timing After TDC, has the exact same effect of combustion in the manifold. I am running between -20 and -10 advance, which means by time the explosion is happening, my exhaust valves are already opening.

But it is when you run it that makes the difference. Your car does not do this all the time off throttle. You are using a soft rev limiter

Right, but I can set it up to do it all the time off-throttle. The car is capable. I click a couple boxes and I can do it
