be prepared to be shot down. this was one of my biggest problems with service writers when i was at lincoln-mercury......that book is STRICTLY A GUIDE. the times are estimates and do not account for problems that may be run into in the process. ill give you an example; cash trans in a 4 cyl accord: i get 8 hours for them cash and i think 5.5 warranty. i can do them in 2-3 hours depending on the circumstances. but that is only because ive done so many. if someone brought me a car that ive never worked on before, and the clutch said 7 hours in the book, you better believe your getting hit for AT LEAST 9 hours. and thats on a good day. if it was a job that i really didnt want to do, i would say more like 11-12. if someone came to me and said "your getting 7 hours for a clutch in a s60" id say give it to someone else. OR if i didnt have a choice, the car would sit for a week before i even looked at it.

Ray you could buy the program (shop key or alldata) but they are pretty expensive. They have all labor prices, but they also have most torque specs and procedures for most (pretty much all) cars.

i work at springfield ford and i understand unforseen problems but considering im almost postive its a tranny out job and the s60r sub-frame and craddle has to be removed just to reach access to the tranny im not even gonna bother learning how too,

the reason for this post was the prices were ball park numbers and i thought it was funy thts why i posted it, but once again u get the dreaded tristate trouble makers to come in and throw there mechanical knowledge around when all i was doing what putting the quote i got......

Nice to know how mechanics and their work ethics are these days. I also find it amusing how long it takes some of these guys to do stuff. I swapped motor/tranny between 2 300zx's in 8 hours in a driveway.

Why a new flywheel? Is it a dual mass that you cant resurface? Grow some balls and just do it yourself. It cannot be worse than my clutch and I did my install in the street on jack stands. Just get a friend or two and do it up. I have been bent over by so many dealers I will never go to one again. I have yet to go to a dealer and not get something stolen, screwed up, neglected, etc.
