Since you aren't looking for a certain find of food check out some murder mystery dinners. I don't remember the name of the exact place I went to, but you can search online and pick one of them. Always a great time.

rosco's chicken and waffles ftw..kidding
in all honesty if you and her have a friendship and know each other pretty well then don't go out of your way for something extravagant. here are some of my opinions 1.) if you try your hardest and go above and beyond later it will be even harder to top it. i made this mistake by writing my girlfriend a poem and reading it to her. ever since the poems haven't been the same to her so that's botched. so keep it simple and save the extravagancy (sp?) for big deals like anniversaries and holidays/birthdays. 2.) i agree with scape....you need to show her a good time and let her see what it's like being with the real you, not someone you're trying to prop yourself up to be (not saying you're not a romantic but have a few laughs. a laugh goes way further than a box of chocolates or a flower.) 3.) if you REALLY want to go to NYC the theme restauraunts are somewhat pricey but always a ball...i had a blast at Jekyl and Hyde's restaurant. 4.) you could just walk like mentioned before...just windows shopping and looking at the sights is fun enough. hope it helped a little

Last first date I was on was Saturday night. Basically, it was her, and also a couple of friends, and we went to a local pool hall downtown. Had a couple of drinks, shot some pool, and just kinda let her be comfortable. End of the night, she chilled at the house to sober up, and drive home.
Couple words of advice. Nothing real insane, or expensive, and make sure she is comfortable. Also, ask her what she wants to do, and kinda build from that.

You ask a girl out on a first date, you make the plans. She didn't say yes to do the work... chicks like a guy to take charge. If you've got the gonads to ask a girl out, back it up with taking charge and making the plans for the first few dates. You have got to have an idea in your head as to what you want to do. re-read that last part... Quote:

I swear to god. Some of you guys dont have a romantic bone in your body.
This is an easy one. Step 1: Buy portable DVD player. Step 2: Buy Dinner from Boston Market for 2. Its like $15 for the meal. Step 3: Bring food home and pack in tupperware. Step 4: Rent romantic Movie. Step 5: Pack Dvd player, Dvd, and Dinner in TRUNK OF CAR Step 6: Pick up girl. Step 7: Don't tell her where you're going. Step 8: Pick ANY parking garage that you can park on the roof If its late enough you should be alone up there. Step 9: Have picnic on roof of parking garge, under the stars, View of the surroundings at night all lit up, watching romantic movie (Like "The Holiday") while eating the dinner she thinks you made. Step 10: (My favorite) PU$$Y! Now, can a girl from TST please chime in and confirm that they wish a guy would do this with them. That doesnt fall under the traditional "Dinner and a movie" does it? Yea, Thanks.

Haha, I went to Valley Forge, walked around for maybe 2 hours and just talked... then we ate dinner. Dropped her off, went home.
For a first date, that is.

first dates should always be nice to make a good first impression but if u go too crazy with it ur gonna bury urself later on.
im the kind of guy who likes relationships to last long so if if u fly her to italy and have dinner on the alps mountains, where do u think shes gonna expect date number 2 to be, the moon, exactly. u gotta make a good first impression but dont have her shooting for the stars on date # 2. and yes YOU make the plans for the first few, once the relationship takes off then u can be like, anywhere in particuylar u want to go? talkign has to be number one critical, which is why movies are a bad idea on the first date. u hardly kno the person and the first thing ur gonna do is sit next to them for two hours and not say a word? movies ftl. go out, and make sure ur communicating a lot. talk about her most of the time, the cuter the girl, the more interested in herself she will be....sounds harsh but its the truth. the cutest ones usually have the worst personality and thats a fact. my fav first date has to be Carabbas, its an italian restraurant and if uve enevr heard of it theres one near the philly race park/casino. its not cheap, so u dont look like a loser, and it aint a huge hit so that ur broke afterwards. and by all means, wherever u go, whateevr u do PAY HER WAY TOO!!!!!!! ^"Pay her way"? If any guy didnt already know this he has no place taking a girl on a date in the first place.

I dunno.
I've always been successful with dinner and a movie. But then again, I usually go to places like Macraroni Grill for dinner and then to a nice movie. But that's after getting to know what she would want to see. I've never had it end badly. The relationships have, but the date never has. $$$ down the drain....now I know why I'm broke.

Like other people have said, keep the first few fairly simple in both money and the places you go, what you do, if you get her anything special, etc. If you make the first one awesome... what about the next one? Or the one after that.
To the OP: If its for a first date, I would keep it simple. Very Simple. Maybe not as simple as mine, but hey, it still works. I agree the movie theater / dinner thing is kinda lame and old but it still works as a backup, lol.

It might be a little bit outta teh way for you but I always took dates to PaintWorks in Gibbsboro, NJ. I would pickup a loaf bread and walk around the paint works lake (it's really nice) and feed the ducks while the sun sets. If you really wanna go the extra mile maybe pickup a little picnic basket dinner. Good luck. It's pretty nice that you're concerned about making this a nice first date so I think that in its self shows you're off to a good start. Good luck!

If you really want to make it nice you can pay me to cook dinner at my house and I'll set up something real nice for you guys, like a candle light meal. Then you can politely leave and I'll really make it a night she never forgets.

well, since we've established that you dont want to keep it jew, why dont you go ahead and rent an expensive exotic car, then drive it off the nearest cliff.
