yeh..i work at lowe's and it definetley blows. The work is easy as hell (move concrete, wood, help customers, move concrete, move sheet rock, rinse wash and repeat) however I want to move departments to outside seasonal (i work in lumber now) but my boss says he wont move me and reward me for "substandard workmanship" meanwhile my team leader gets all the credit for me staying til 12-12:30 on a night im only scheduled til 11 just to clean up his mess.

I used to work detailing cars for a living. I would buff neglected cars for 40-70 hrs a week and degrease engines outside regaurdless of weather! Nothing worse then finishing an engine and while you are still wet start slinging compound and glaze all over you with wet feet. I am getting angry just thinking about it. It sucked the big one.

Now I love my job!

It's mid-May. I want to pack everything related to my pool service business into the back of my van, set it on fire then drive it off a cliff.

Had the second "interview" today for the possibly new job.

The originally offered position was $8 an hour VS commission, so it was either $8/hr or commission, whichever was better

The new offering is a position within the management team itself and involves some pretty good stuff...

I'd be in charge of recruitment for above entry level, getting a commission on each person hired AND I'd be in charge of securing placement of booths at different locations for the company, commission based off of the performance of the booth. The company currently has 2 booths set up in the area and I'd be in charge of acquiring more...

And I'd have "supervisor" in my title

I told him I'd need the weekend to think about it...I have a few more questions to ask and I want to get a better understanding of the pay structure. quite exciting...

I hate my job. I'm a service writer at walmart, my managers are all dicks, and I hate people. I always get yelled at by stupid, fat, and just plain mean customers. I've been there for 3 months and Im ready to go postal on the place. Plus I only work 4 hours a day, but its 5 days a week so I never have any free time. So...I now have no life, work all the time, and bring home a couple hundred bucks a month. But what can I expect being 19 and still in school? I want to try and find a shop that would be able to work out hours with me, but most shops are not open very late, so its kinda tough.

exactly why I'm not working in a shop p/t... I could make more doing oil changes and tire rotation and crap like that instead of working at Sheetz... The shops nearby close around 7pm, I get home at 5pm... pleh, no good.

gonna take a 50 cent pay cut if I take the job that was offered to me... but I'll get commissions on top of the pay and have more fun and potentially work less if I make enough.

I'm kinda flabbergasted. Right now all signs point to "go for it!"

It's 62 cents less an hour, but 10 minutes from home versus 30 minutes...the gas makes up for the difference easily.

On top of that I get commission based off of how well the "sites" I set up do. I would be the sole person responsible for contacting business owners to make deals on placement of these "sites".

I am also responsible for recruitment for the entry level position I was originally interviewed for. I would get a bonus for each person hired. I'd be in charge of placement of employment ads as well as taking the original phone calls and setting up appointments for interviews.

There are currently two "sites" open and doing well and should contribute an additional 500-800 a month to my pay

Travel would be limited, when I have to meet with property owners and discuss these "sites"

The job itself would be more fun... in a company with a budget of 4.4 million for the year and not doing so well due to the previous marketing team, of which I would be a part of the new team. This would look killer on a resume if the site does incredibly well and basically be a stepping point in my life and push me towards a career of marketing within a hotel/resort environment.

40 hours a week, 9 to 5, possibly overtime...I'll ask.

"Employee use" after 90 days... I can stay at any resort in the company for 1-10 days for a flat rate... booya!

I have the potential to make 40k/yr in 3-6 months. I won't settle for that

I can't see a reason not to take the job, purely based on the hourly rate. And It'd be stupid not to accept the job based off the commission plus hourly plus benefits...

I have the weekend to think it over, and I cannot see myself saying no...

should I write a letter of resignation...or just tell my boss "this will be my last week here" next week...lol

go for it man sounds good. I actually like my job. I'm a "Propert Manager" and I use quotes cause I just dont really have that title. I am in charge of running an apartment complex in philly. I make only $12 but I also get $50 bonus for leases I sign. Its pretty easy yea I gotta dress nice and as much as I hate dressing up I can deal with it. Funny thing is this was supposed to be temp position but i worked out so well that they have me down here full time.

took the job..

The pay structure got hashed out friday before I accepted the job. I'll be making more per hour than my current job, my driving got cut in half, and I get a monthly bonus as well as killer benefits (flat rate use of resort room anywhere in the system for 1-10 days!!!)

I'll be working for a major Vacation Club Resort

I just e-mailed my boss my letter of resignation, which consisted of about 3 sentences. My last day here is Friday

this past friday i lost a bunch of faith in my co-workers/supervisiors so i think it;s time to move on. I've already been told i've reached my pay cap anyway, and being that I'm 30... well that doesn't leave me with much of a decision. So yea, I'm going to try and tie up any loose ends with other side projects I have with my current company and look for a new job. maybe one thats closer too. (if anyone has anything let me know).

it's a small company, so even if i could I would still have to deal with and work with people I have very little respect for.

I seriously would love to try something new at this point as long as my finances stay secured like they are now. Or would like to possibly run a shop.
I did that for a couple years when I was younger,.....hated the people I worked for. I would love to have my own detailing business. Wanna start one? The mobile detail industry is taking off. What could be better for the customer than having their car detailed in their work parking lot. And talk about free advertising....everyone at the workplace will see you setup in the parking lot making the car beautiful! All you need is a van/truck, then buy a tank/sprayer to install in the back,..and voila!, mobile detailing. Setup a pole tent over the vehicle and you're set. Customer base is the hardest to develop.....but.....the internet makes it much easier! Create a website and whore the sh*t out of it..lol.
