Dreamcast WAS different, but it didnt last very long. I remember at one point, they just plain out stopped making games for it, and it wasnt very long after the release date...maybe 3 years?

PS3 is going to fail because Blu Ray will not win the standards war against HD-DVD. PS3 was a year late to the Next-Gen system dance. They announced recently that no Adult Entertainment will be released in Blu Ray; the same announcement that almost single-handedly caused VHS to win its standards award in the 80s.

Hell yeah I remember Dreamcast Dave.

Still play a mean game of NIGHTS every once and a while (yes it was a Saturn game...but still plays on it) and a few good rounds of Area51.

I'm not really all that "connected" to Microsoft...wonder where you got that impression...if it wasn't for my Dad using this computer as well...EVERYTHING in my house would be Linux based....including the fridge

Screw PS3..too expensive. My friend has a 360 and its fun to play and all, but the Wii brings a smile to my face every single time i play it

Japanese game developers are ghey. How can you get a simulation driving or FPS right when you're not even allowed to OWN a gun and you ride a train/bus/elevator to work?

i do.

the dreamcast was not killed because of tech specs or anything like that. there was 2 simple reasons it flopped...

1. 3rd party support(lack of it)
2. the fact that it could play backups with no modification whatsoever, off of standard cd-r's.

sega didnt bother putting in any kind of boot security checks as they figured that noone would ever obtain a method for ripping a GD-ROM, being as they are proprietary. what happened was that someone reverse engineered the dreamcast itself to rip games and it was all downhill from there. within 2 weeks you could buy any game you wanted from hong kong for 3 bucks a peice and get it shipped right to you. not long after that the games were packaged for easy digital distribution and easy enough for anyone to download and burn.

for what its worth, in japan there is still a trickle of new games being released to this day.

and to the person who said you can play nights on the dreamcast.. please explain...

Almost a grand, more than that if you look past one year as xbl subscriptions need to be renewed and you wont see any hd-dvd games on 360. and hey lets not forget the clunky external power supply or the loud noises it makes or the massive failure rate. whos' more expensive now?

sega put themselves out of business through a series of dumbass moves starting with the 32x. its really no surprise that developers cut support when you pull a system out from under their feet causing them to waste tons of money in unreleased software.

my understanding is that the dreamcast can be used itself as an emulator. i KNOW it can be adapted to play psx games through dc bleem! though i am unsure about saturn stuff. check out the forums at http://snesorama.us/board/ if you cant find any helpful info there try googling yabause

I would get a Wii, I have all 3 and I just got the PS3 for the bluray player.

I like my PS3 better than my friends XBOX360. hands down.

We had Xbox360 at our house for about a week and than i went out and bought PS3 and i think it's better.

One thing about the Xbox360 if you buy it, make sure you buy an intercooler for it, that sucker gets HOT!

GOW is cool, but Resistance is better. Gears of War is one of the games that will cheesey in a couple of months.

PS3 has more background detail at this time, but remember that are out at this time are based on DVD size and they have not put the game console to it's full potential w/ the blue-ray disc capacity. the next set of games to be released are going to be sick! do some research on cnet.com....
