Right dude. Benz is right next to my dealer and they are dirt slow right now. And they hire techs with NO LESS than 2 years experience for 15ish an hour. You're a ****ing tool chest, get your head out of your ass before you hit the real world of flat rate and dealerships. I still dont understand your additude, I didn't say anything against you, i just said uti is a joke. Maybe I just knew a hell of a lot more before going into the school then you did. |

Theres a tool you can buy for fairly cheap to do it yourself, probably cheaper than paying a shop to do it. Or if you are smooth enough you can do it with a baseball bat, but I don't recomend doing it that way cause its very easy to damage a 1/4.

You know what, why don't you prove you are working at benz. What hours do you work and whats a number I can reach you at? You know more than me? Yeah how do you figure? Because I work for saturn? A car is a car, I can fix anything. I was doing motor swaps and rebuilding motors before you were even driving. |

Ok last thing I'm going to say in public and then we can go to PM if the little boy chooses to.
When was your start date? I see your birthday is 6-25 so that means you didnt start until the earliest of july, which was 4 months ago. Which makes you 5 classes deep depending if you started july 1st. Mstat programs won't even look at you that early. So don't even try to bull**** me. So unless you want to give proof you work at mb, anything of the sort im calling ![]() |

16.50 parkin cars must be nice living in fantasy land, and ummm yeah I bet the benz healer honduh is talkin about is waaaay nicer than yours, and guess what they get no work and hardly sell dick keep lying. And from the pics it looks like those wheels are the wrong offset, maybe that's why they rub but you know that your a student at one of the worst schools ever

Nice focus man, I don't see how your rubbing tho, must have wrong offset. I know a guy with a SVT and he was tucking the rear because he had a wall of 12 10" subs.
I'm going to WyoTech and I'm in Trim/Upholstery right now. If I was to work out of my garage, at the level/quality of work I do (furthest ahead in class) I could charge between $35-40 an hour depending on the work. However, If I was working at a shop, I would start at $12-$17 an hour... (sucks) On my own... When charging for items, everything is set at the standard hours per the item recovered. It takes 8 hours per bucket seat (add 1 hour for headrest) Rear split seat takes 5-8 depending on contours and such. At $37 that's $518 pocketed right there and that's just for labor. Then you add tax, supplies, and you are ranging from $650+ just for 2 bucket seats... Add 6 hours at $37 for the rear seat, that's another $222 in pocket. right there, the customer would be looking at $740 in just labor... for seats only. Fabric/Vinyl/Leather range in price, as low as $15 a yard and up to extreme prices. Figure regular vinyl at $25 a yard, each seat 1 solid color it takes approx 2-3 yards per bucket seat, and 3 for a rear. Total of approx 8 yards of fabric, and then you need 1/4" foam... 8 yards at vinyl$25 a yard, $200 8 yards of foam at $12 a yard, $96 Add 10% to foam to cover misc supplies (Comes to $105.60) Total before tax for everything, $1,045.60 6% tax $62.73 Final Total $1,108.37 That's just a normal estimate to reupholster seats in a standard fabric. I'm sure some of you know that there are quality fabrics that range from $40+ but aren't that practical in a Daily Driver. Ive learned estimating at WyoTech. I love this school, I have my bad days, but my instructors and the head guy in our building cant believe the work I am doing. Early 2009 I plan on having a shop, under its own roof (not running out of a house garage LOL) It will offer Rollcages, Upholstery, Collision/Refinishing. Eventually, if all goes as planned, I want to offer Dyno Tuning and engine/tranny work. Eventually when I expand, I will offer Frame Modifications like C-Notching on Trucks/SUVs for extreme lowering. That wont be for years... I'm going to get my inspections licence, but I most likely wont offer inspections, I will have to deal with to much paperwork disposing and properly filtering everything as a body shop as it is. I'm already gathering estimates for a building, I will be starting out in a 60' deep by 100' long fully insulated warehouse style building. They are relatively inexpensive. It will house an enclosed area to hold a maximum of 2 cars for major body/prep work, 1 paint booth, office, restroom, and plenty of area for tools/cars inside to do other custom work...
