02 with 89k miles for 5k, then you still got enough to turbo it
there you go. Have professionals do what they have to do and it will be reliable.

find yourself a 99-01 2.5rs... the coupes are nasty... and the aftermarket is huge...Renegade_ aka Justin has one... its a fun car... plus with a little swap or some boost.. you can have a LOT of fun.

A WRX motor with any kind of turbo upgrade (VF22, VF30, VF34 etc) will take you deep into the 12s if you drive right with a swapped RS. UnderpoweredRS has a wrx swap on stock tranny that he is running into the 11s.

However, RSs are kinda pricey because everyone that has one knows there are only less and less every year.

http://www.rs25.com/classifieds/show...p?product=8509

This would be a DREAM setup - something I might be aiming for but it looks like someone snagged it already.

You could pick up an RS for around 6k if you keep looking and are just persistent. You can get WRX motorswaps for around 2000 not installed (even less now). What better way to get a crash course in subarus then to swap one

Get pete to build you a motor - he had an L and he slapped EJ22 heads onto it and put all WRX turbo crap on it and is now running mid-low 13s

GTP's are heavy, front wheel drive family sedans. They can make good power but you'll need to spend more than 9k total to have a fast GTP. If you're looking for a cushy cruiser with okay power (but pretty poor gas mileage) I guess it's an all right choice.

Subaru L's are 1.8's, but only until you swap one. wgknestrick said it right... you could buy an L ($2500) and do a full WRX swap (~$3000 if you do it yourself) and have plenty of money left over. In that light a chassis the WRX 5-speed is happier and it would make for a quick car with basic mods. But I think you're a little more into the whole "looks" thing, and unfortunately an L won't really do that for you in stock form.

Why don't you like Honda's? If you're entertaining VW's, Honda's are a cheaper, more reliable alternative, just aren't quite as aesthetically pleasing.

Why would you buy/consider a GTP over a SRT-4?

Also, (I hate to be the face of reality here), but you aren't willing to part with enough cash that buys you exactly what you are looking for. The swaps aren't bad at all if you have someone do it for you (cough area1320, cough). Just plan on buying whatever car and swap it immediately before you ever park it in your driveway.

There really is something to appreciate about a fast car that you really don't care about what happens on the outside. A fast car that looks nice is such an oxymoron because nothing takes paint off better than speed. You are always heart broken every time something happens to it.

Suby Ls can also fit most 2.5RS body parts when you get around to it (if looking good is your bag). 2.5RS still are the best looking subaru (I know that isn't saying much too).

Guys, basically what I want is a STOCK 4 banger/6 banger maybe. Thats not expensive and that i will be able to make my payments and be able to mod. I never really had a stock car to work with, i did have my last eclipse but smahsed it to soon. Never really had a car that was worth modding with potential.

Over this winter I will prolly look to sell my eclipse, and prolly drive my laser more then the eclipse, and try and sell both. I have to drive one, so which one you think will have more potential to sell with me drivin it around? You guys prolly know more then me bout cars and this kinda stuff and prolly have more experiance, so thats what im lookin for.
