DID you actually try reading my post??? You can CLEARLY see something moving in the background in that video on SNOPES. IT'S A FREAKING BIRD. Just because THAT DUBBED version OR SCENE isn't in technicolor, doesn't mean that the original verson wasn't shot in technicolor. I'm sure MILLIONS of copies of this was sold in black and white though. It was probably CHEAPER to record over the color.

THAT IS THE ORIGINAL film showed on SNOPES.

what proof are you providing that shows that snopes has the original film? when i play it on real player its telling me a date from 1997. also the sorces listed at the bottom of the page are all 1990 and newer. why would i beleive a website that is using information from 60 years later than when the movie was made?

no. the whole thing was shot on colorstock film, the 'black and white' sequences were actually shot with a 'sepia tone' filter but were still shot on tehcnicolor film.

We live in the information age. IF there was another version of wizard of oz that people had in their posession that showed a man hanging or a person running/capturing an animal, then it would be SOMEWHERE on the internet. If someone has this secret video why wouldnt they be copying it and uploading it in order to prove that the urban legend is real? Everyone will claim that they know someone who knows somsone who saw this over version, but nobody can actually find it.

I challenge anyone to find me a link to a video online where it shows the same scene where you can see anything but a bird with a long neck walking in the background.

I had no idea there was a rumor about someone hanging themself in the wizard of oz movie...this is my first time hearing about. I went to that snopes.com place and watched the video clip they had. After watching it like 5 times I finally saw the movement everyone was talking about. It definitely did not look like someone hanging, the bird account seemed more reasonable to me. Now weather or not the clip on snopes.com is the original or not I have no clue.

i finally foudn a video of the man hanging. yes there is still a bird in the video. the bird is in the same place as the other 100 videos. so please dont say its a bird. look on top of the chimney. the person appears to be wearing over alls, white shirt and a rope going up to the tree. compare that to the newer versions and in the new full color version everything about the cimney is blurred out and mixed in with black.

Finally found it? Thats the same video on snopes.com DISPROVING the hanging man myth.

first of all...its the exact same version as all the color versions. The same 'guy in overalls' is visible in all versions, there is no burred out version anywhere. Go to you tube and watch every version. They all have the same chimney top. Even the one on snopes.com has the same version. Please post me the link where it blurs the chimney out, cause it doesnt exist.

What you claim is a person is the chimney. Its the the top of the chimney pipe and it appears distorted as the camera pulls out. I dont see a rope, I dont see a ladder...please pinpoint the time at which the guy hangs and swings, cause I dont see anything that even slightly resembles that. Thats the exact same version that Ive always seen. All you found is a bad black and white recording of it---you have proven nothing.

Even the guy commenting on it concedes that nobody hangs.

The myth is that in the BACKGROUND of the scene as they skip away you see someone hanging in the trees. There was never anyone in overalls hanging from a chimney, climing a chimney etc.

You wanna see this hanging man so badly you are making your own version of the myth up--classic

the figure you think is a guy hanging is in both versions. It hasnt been removed. I dont know why you are saying you cant see him in the color version. If the object was deliberately removed from one of the versions, it wouldnt be there at all. If George Lucas can make Greedo shoot first, MGM studios can remove a 'hanging man'. The reason you can see it in both versions is because it is actually the CHIMNEY OF THE HOUSE. No guy...no rope...no swinging...NO HANGING.


there is no hanging on the house, there is no hanging in the trees. Its someones imagination, a bad video transfer of a film made in 1939 and the image of a bird with a long swan-like neck in the rear of the scene moving between trees. Period. Its an urban FCKING legend.

oh and look at the chimney when the witch is on top of it right before that where she throws a fireball. i didnt seem to notice anything sticking out of the top of the chimney that looks like a person.
