Yeah, i'd say look into the rav4 and the mazda cx-7 too...

But you can't go wrong with Honda, plus the crv will hold its value better than any of the other cars you listed... Plus they're know for their reliability...

And I like the compass too... never been in one, but my ex works for jeep so I became a little partial to chrysler/jeep/dodge... A big downside on that though is that its a brand new car and most likely will have some problems. I can't tell you how many commanders came into his work with weird defects and recalls, also when they came out with the last model grand cherokee... But all that aside, jeeps run good and last. Plus warranty will cover any defects...

Pontiac.... is GM, enough said.

i looked at the subaru's but i rather have a suv. i also hunt and would like to have the ability to tow my duck hunting boat to the river. also i dont know how well the little subaru will handle in mud. but i did take a look at them in person and i do like them just not too practical for what i have in plan for it.

the mazda is only a 18/24 car.

and the toyota is a possiblilty, just alittle pricey once you start adding options.the 4 cyl is a 23 27 mpg and 6cyl is a 21 28 mpg. not bad. the 6cyl 4x4 before any options is already over 27k. 25k for the 4cly with out options. im looking at fully loaded vehicles like the vibe for about 24k. im not poor but im not rich. i would like to have payments about 350 a month. i know i will be expected to put like 1500 to 2000 down on a vibe which will put me right around the figure im hoping to get. im only 22 and i dont want to work all week just to pay for a car payment and insurance. snowboarding aint cheap. ;)

but thanks for everyones opinions and advice. feel free to throw more suvs or trucks my way and let me know. thanks again

i guess there would be a lot of changes considering the caliber didnt exist as an 06 model

also, the awd caliber is supposed to be available with a manual soon, currently it only has an autostick

I realize the Subaru isn't an SUV, but the vibe/matrix really wouldnt qualify either. I will say, ever seen a world rally race?? I can personally vouch that the subaru will be great in the mud if you don't lower it and put a nice set of mud/snow tires on it. I've had it in 7 in deep snow with no problem, and on ruddy backroad fishing trails with also no problem. It can also hand a reasonable towing load. I would definately choose that before a matrix because of the power differences and ease of finding parts.

My inlaws have a matrix/vibe and its a great car also. Had it since 03 with no problems. Definately sluggish in the auto version though.

My brother had a jeep - biggest POS he's ever owned. His 1984 Fiero was more reliable...
A friend of mine had the Liberty...also another POS.

You can when its over priced! Plus, "resale" value only comes into play if you know you are going to sell the car in less than 5-7 years.

Ugh... Thats an unfair mentality. Plus the Vibe is 85% Toyota. All the important stuff is made by Toyota. The quality among new cars these days is much closer than it ever has been.

i thought they were out for awhile. oh well. i could of sworn i checked them out online before and found nothing about awd either until last night. i guess after looking at every brand car and reading about them all you kind of get some confused.

in my opinion the vibe and crv, vehicles that look like that are suvs. its pretty close. i just thought i would throw the caliber into the trend to see what comes of that.

about the subaru, how much room do they have in the rear, and they can get a trailer hitch correct?
